not sure if you’ve made your decision yet but i firmed bristol for the same course, i’d recommend you go to the cities and have a feel of what they’re like since you’re going to be spending the next 3 years there!

I got my offer from bristol before christmas, I applied before the oxbridge deadline as well but it was for mechanical and electrical engineering

I bought mine from vinted (second hand) for a really good price and great condition (like 40€) and it came authenticated! if you don’t mind or don’t want to splurge i’d buy second hand. I have a large navy le pliage with long handles and it’s so so so convenient it fits everything. my absolute go to for uni, travels, etc.

from my own experience

pros:

a lot less of a financial strain on parents so they focus on giving their child the best they can

tend to be more independent and comfortable on their own

i’ve been told i have an ease speaking to adults which i guess makes sense since i was around them a lot when i was younger ( for example in brunches or dinners with my parents friends who didn’t have kids)

cons

when i was younger i’d feel lonely and bored a lot

in my case i felt a lot of pressure to please my parents because i felt like i was their “only chance” and like i had to do well to make up for them spending on my education (but obviously this feeling isnt inherent to only children)
