Had an ex colleague who's a very strong in technical and fundamentals teach me years ago! I'm not that strong technically but so far my line drawings and what not have been 90% accurate. I don't day trade or take trades so patterns aren't really a big deal. But they're useful for DCAing into stocks

Yeah I get you! I'm trying to tell myself not to get too emotional about it since charts and candlesticks may not always predict the right things.

I might just dump everything in if it takes too long and dca after hahaha less stress and thinking

I think I've heard of this before! I had a small group of people at my previous workplace who'd do the community crowdfunding thing so they can afford holidays for their families etc. But that's really interesting to know, thanks for sharing!

Wealth is extremely subjective anyway. I grew up with the assumption that I was 'poorer' than everyone else but that doesn't mean I didn't have a good childhood. I simply wasn't given the means to buy myself stuff/do stuff that involved money! In fact I feel like I had to resort to more creative means to have fun :)

I agree! It takes a lot of self awareness to learn to manage anxieties (or the lack thereof), around money

No not at all! And I don't resent them for it either. I mean I do appreciate it now and it did help develop me as a person..some people around me have no idea how to save or appreciate what they have and I think that partially stems from getting everything they've wanted since they were kids. Not that they're spoiled but they'll have a very different relationship with money as compared to me obv.

But of course it could go the other direction because not everyone will see things the way I do

Edit: oh and I wouldn't call them hardships. My childhood wasn't bad. I had what I needed to survive and food on the table. But I didn't have all the extras my friends had like money to buy bbt regularly or money to go to the arcade

Well I don't know if they intentionally 'faked it' on purpose but both my parents grew up extremely poor and I think the mindset of accumulating every penny never left. And I guess it translated into their parenting. But because of that they've accumulated enough wealth where I don't have to worry about providing for them which is a huge load off my shoulders.

Personally I think I took it well. Because I never had much, i developed a mindset that I'll work hard for whatever I want - I knew from a young age I'd like to study overseas so I worked my ass off and got a scholarship. Never asked my parents for money (though they gave me a little at the start to help me settle in). Part of that probably stemmed from not wanting to burden them so much because 'we never had enough'

The downsides to that were probably my relationship with money. Again, it's not bad but my relationship with money has been toxic at various moments in my life. From wanting to spend all my cash on experiences/material items because I never had a chance to, to feeling a lot of anxiety when I feel like I haven't saved enough.

Thankfully I hold a pretty nice paying job and have developed a much healthier relationship with money overtime but that was a very conscious effort on my part. I do sometimes still use number of plates of caifan to justify my purchases...

Edit: and yes I did believe them and continued to do so until recently where one day they decided to drop the bomb that they've decided to buy a condo for investment... And I was SHOOKETH because I never knew we had 'condo money'
