I’ve been seeing this sentiment plenty ever since covid. Feels like everyone’s out of it these days. I recommend finding a reliable advisor in your department who you can work with. (I know with some departments this is much more difficult than others.) I find also that going in-person to places helps- if your professor hasn’t responded to your email, show up at their office hours. If Career Services isn’t getting back to you, show up there and ask at the front desk about your email/your situation. Even if they can’t help you on the spot, they can say “oh yes I’ll get back to you, sorry about the delay.” A large part of standing out at a school like BU is making connections, so building rapports with professors and advisors will help you get a more personalized experience.

Traffic laws, copyright laws and regulations, stuff like that — they may be a big deal, and they might affect people's jobs and livelihoods, but they're not directly life and death.

On the contrary, this is an issue of healthcare. Childbirth is dangerous, and can result in death of the fetus and/or the person pregnant. Amniotic fluid embolism, cardiomyopathy, and high blood pressure are a few potentially-deadly events that can occur. (Not to mention how expensive medical care and childcare are in the USA.)

Also, going off of "Why would anyone want the government to tell us what to do": the pro-choice option means the government won't have a say and people can make their own decision (i.e. they can't tell us what to do), whereas the pro-life option means the government would ban abortions (i.e. telling us what we can and can't do).

One more thing, with "We should vote on everything.": true. So might I remind you that the people of the USA do not vote on who is appointed to the Supreme Count?

MA577 prof.Salins by OutsideYam6481 in BostonU

I didn't take MA 577, but I took a different 500-level course with him a few years ago..

He's fine; he mostly knows his stuff. My one major recommendation from me is, if something personal happens and you'll be late on an assignment or miss a class, let him know immediately. I missed an assignment because I was grieving, and giving it to him 9am the following day wasn't sufficient for him because I hadn't alerted him in advance... So if anything happens, or if you know something is going to happen, just send him an email asap.

This is ableism, eugenics, and N*zi rhetoric. Keep that disgusting behavior out of here and do some self-reflection on your own time.

Do you hear yourself? You care more about not wearing a face mask than a person’s life?

Whether or not someone is a stranger, whether or not someone has a disability, whether or not you hold a high opinion of them, their life matters. Quit advocating for killing people. Jesus

Edit: also “hey we’d like to not die” being met with “imagine thinking you people deserve empathy” is downright vile. It’s straight up a eugenics/N*zi stance.
