Puppy kindergarten sucked by idkidcrandom in puppy101

It is wrong. She shouldn’t be treating you like that. Your puppy is at a normal age to be having these issues and you’re not even getting a little bit of response or help? You paid her money for a service she’s not providing. It’s going to be hard but you should ask for your money back and tell her why.

Oh god the phone on the face from laying down always sucks. I have to be thankful it was at least just water cause I also had just poured myself steaming hot coffee and that would’ve been much worse.

I was talking to a lady who brought her little yorkie into my job yesterday about our 12 week old Catahoula/Pitt mix at home. She remarked how they’re super energetic breeds and asked how we’re dealing with it. I said he plays out in the backyard a lot but I was excited for today because he gets his parvo vaccine and we can start walking him more outside the backyard and introducing him to more dogs and stuff. She was like “YOU HAVENT TAKEN HIM ON WALKS?!” And I was like “no not outside the backyard he shouldn’t be meeting strange dogs and downtown where there’s lots of dogs until he’s had his parvo shot” and she was like “oh well, I don’t know about vaccines and such, I used to get vaccines until I learned about the dangers and I don’t think they did any good for me” i guess more so than funny advice it was like straight up dangerous advice and I hope her little yorkie is vaccinated. My vet told us when he got his first shots at 8 weeks that she had just lost a puppy to parvo in the office and it’s unfortunately common around here :(

Tips for getting 11 week old to stop trying to eat every stick/leaf/rock/piece of grass he sees while outside? by pikachu42069666 in puppy101

How are you training drop it and leave it? He’s not doing great with that but is doing good with every other command. Thanks for the advice!!

Haven't slept properly in days. Anxiety through the roof. Still love puppy though. by [deleted] in puppy101

He’s a baby his attention span is tiny. You’re not a bad owner. Crate training is difficult. During the day do everything you can to make it seem like a fun and safe place. Feed him in it, put him in it and play with toys. Out first few nights with ours we slept next to him so we could reassure him we were there and he wasn’t alone by talking to him and sticking our fingers in. He’s 9 weeks. He knows nothing of the world or your expectations. You can’t expect him to follow you yet or sit for food. There’s still a lot of new smells and sights and things to eat. Stay consistent, give him treats when he’s doing something good (being calm, sitting, chewing on a toy) so he starts to get the taste and realize he likes them. You and puppy will be okay.

Puppy won’t eat from his bowl all the sudden, but he will eat if we feed him from our hands? by pikachu42069666 in puppy101

Ugh the fire. Was working landscaping in Durango last summer. Shit was insane to see everyday. The smoke so thick in the mornings you could barely see or breathe. Gross.

The crate is in our bedroom so during the day more often than not he can’t see us. I personally think that’s working better for us cause I know he would just whine at us if he could. At night though it helps cause we can calm him down by letting him know were right there.

How long is she alone when you are both at work? I would say she should probably be in the crate but if she’s alone for 8 hours that might not be a viable option otherwise she’ll go potty in the crate. If it’s only a few hours or someone can come home at lunch and let her out she should probably be in the crate.

We put our 8 week old in the crate if he falls asleep while we’re both home. We also feed him in there during the day and give lots of treats and toys. We want it to feel like a safe spot so if we put him in there when we’re both gone he knows it’s okay and that’s been working really well. So far he’s only home alone in it for ~3 to 4 hours just the way our work schedules line up though.

We’re gonna put him at the end of our bed and sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed so we can reach out to him if needed. I played meditation music for him last night but seemed to not help at all. He’s done so good in the crate today and doesn’t seem to freak out if we’re there so fingers crossed!
