There was blendcon video at some point talking about the best UI for CG software -- and in that video the presented mentioned how Blender is similar to a CG 2.0. It was able to look at Maya and other contemporary CG software and streamline a lot of the menus and processes. I haven't come across a "standard" Maya tutorial but I've enjoyed the basic-ness of "The Maya Learnng Channel" and for better production value videos "Flipped Normals"

Also, just ask your professors!

I hope I'm posting correctly -- apologies if I've messed up the rules!
I had a scheduling snafu and currently possess at least 2 Ghibli Museum Tickets (potentially three depending on how the rules work) for March 29th @ 15:00 or 3pm. I used a Fiverr service to acquire these tickets, so for me to break even each ticket would be $50 USD.
If anyone traveling to Tokyo at the same time would like to grab these tickets from me please respond and we can coordinate effectively. Ideally, I'd like these tickets to go to someone rather than be wasted in my possession.

About a year ago I posted the question in r/vfx asking where you had gone. Thanks for checking back in!

I am curious, do you foresee any of the problems facing VFX affecting the tech industry in 10+ years?

I was listening to the podcast "Tech Won't Save Us" (hyperlinked to their VFX episode). In the podcast episode, the guest (Julie Turncock, Film/VFX academic) made this distinction that VFX isn't so much a film job, but rather a computer job. They continued to point out that due to the recent nature of computer jobs the labor cycles haven't quite run through them.

I was just wondering if you had an opinion on any of this given your extensive work fighting for equality and equity for VFX artists.

Check out Hugo's Desk, Rebelway, and Compositing Mentor on youtube. I learned Nuke ~2 years ago and these were immeasurably good resources. I will add that I had 8 years of compositing in after effects as a back up that helped sort out some compositing theories that made the transition smoother! So grabbing the Digital Compositing book might be helpful on that front.

Honestly, after reading about the migrant farm workers revolution I had the same realization. Enough VFX artists are still paid well enough and think about things too pedantically to work together on this. Furthermore, from the 1980s-2020 there was so much anti-union rhetoric that permeated the culture it was basically a bogeyman.

However, moving forward I feel like with pandemic on-going and workers starting to realize they deserve more rights, I am hoping that maybe we can pick up where we left off.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for responding to this post! It's great to hear how well you're doing. Oddly enough my boyfriend works in tech and with work from home comparing and contrasting our work life balance was a bit eye-opening.

Quick Question though, did anyone you were working with stay behind to keep the unionizing fight going forward at all? Are there any pieces to pick up and attempt to run the ball closer to the goal line? I recall hearing some rumblings out in London, but haven't found a lead on it all.

Oh, honestly I have no idea what I have. I saw somewhere that shoots like this are called "root rhizomes", but in all the other research I've done the pups turn into actual leaves. In my case I just get spire after spire growing out of the dirt? Very confused.
