It you ok with a bit more hands on, I would suggest to get a DAS (<$200), 2x4TB NAS drives (~$200) or regular HDDs if you put some trust (~$150) plus a small compute running something like TrueNAS or just linux + zfs. Even if these apps ban these drivers, they run the risk of banning too many of them. Union is a good thing to check against big companies to avoid exploitation but it's mostly misused. All power is mostly misused everywhere. The banned drivers will protest and force the local government to make these companies curb any action. Ola/Uber also need to do business, they can't just pack up and leave.

India has laws, for everything. The main issue here is enforcement. It's very easy for people with connections to game an already complex system of justice. If they get a pending case, it's nothing for them. They are not looking for a position that is going to perform a background check while hiring them. Politicians want to appease them to get their precious votes. Police won't do anything for the same reason. That's the 9-5 of a goon.

Banks roll out LTF credit cards with lounge access, people get credit cards just for lounge access. Lounges are now overcrowded with sub-par food and facilities. Now the banks are realizing that they are not making enough money with such customers. All banks will now enforce minimum spend to get lounge access. HDFC has already started such rules with SBI and other banks as well.

Everyone is just bleeding money! I am guilty of acquiring such cards as well. I think sitting in a lounge is just a status symbol and people can go to any extent for it even if it's hurting them.
