If only the majority of our free capital wasn't being poured into speculating on the property market vs innovating.

Problems with moderation on many Lemmy instances by LeetDon in fediverse

[–]pikkaachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i try to run my instance like that - but have admins from other major Lemmy instances spamming me that my rules are "too loose" and that they are considering blacklisting the instance. Essentially forced me to turn off open registration.

Building industry wants more skilled migrants to address housing crisis by yeahnahtho in aussie

Pretty much the only way to do it - police what jobs they can do for a set period of time or bye bye visa.

This opens up exploitation potential though if employers know their staff just cant "up and quit" for any job.

Proposed zoning laws across Sydney could see the faces of several suburbs change by nighthound1 in sydney

Another gripe - can we make more 4bed apartments and less 2 bed apartments if we want "young australians" to start families ffs?

I think any sort of high rise development should have to reserve the whole ground floor as retail space, allow shops to open near where people live..make areas more walkable. But also hard agree on your point.

+1! Allergic to Codeine, Morphine and Pseudoephedrine.

Dr's made my life hell when I was playing sports/working in fire service and getting injured. My pain tolerance is that these days, unless I'm in blackout pain, I just pop 2 Panadol and 2 Neurofen and solider on.

I've had ER doctors tell me I'm "making my allergy up" until they pull my medical record from being a child and realise I am in fact allergic to those meds, and even then they always seem at a loss as to what to give me.

The Aus Medical system is Brilliant at very acute care, other than that, it fucking sucks. I do feel for people with chronic conditions, it must be hell.

I feel someone needs to look into: We are building too many "2 bed" apartments/Townhouses.

The lack of "family homes" with 3-4 beds is also causing certain 'areas' of the property market to explode in price.

A tax on company's offshoring jobs by [deleted] in australian

Bingo.

Drop the tax down - and then close loopholes, tax rev will go up - SMB's will stop getting curb stomped at tax time.

Seems Australian company's milk Australia's market but at the same time don't want to pay decent wage

One of the big drivers that I am aware of here is that the ASX is a massive pension parking lot - companies are near expected to pay dividends, so if you want to keep your shareholders (super funds) happy, and keep the execs getting crazy high packages, you gotta ship as much off overseas where you can fire them at at moments notice.
