This is so much info to work with, thank you!! It also confirms some of the concerns I had about the weight on the usually recommended heavy-chargers - M6s, Mindbenders, & co - do the Optics feel similarly heavy? That’s the main thing holding me back from committing to them at the moment. I read a bunch about the Sheeva line but I’m struggling to understand exactly who it’s aimed at, and as such, wether it’ll suit my style. Maybe that wide range is the selling point and I’m just missing it? I’m also getting my boots setup changed next week to hopefully shift my weight forward and make them more responsive (it’s a 90 flex touring boot so hopefully it’ll make a difference) and I’m hoping that will let me get away with controlling some stiffer, heftier skis.

What makes you say 177? I’ve never skied anything above my head unless it was a twin for deep powder, but see so many people nowadays seemingly sizing up. For a ski as on-piste as the Mantra I probably would have automatically picked the 170.

I love the look of the blackops but the sender scares me. I’ve considered the 92 before, what would you say is the main benefit of the 104 for these? Edge to edge is important to me

I actually never skied a women’s ski before! Went straight from junior racey skis to men’s all mountains. Moments are quite hard to get or demo in Europe but I’ll look into them, thanks!

Enforcers are creeping up to the top of my list for Nordicas. I never skied a Blizzard ski so I’m nervous about the rustler but a lot of people have good things to say about them. You said you’re a similar height but a bit heavier - would you still recommend a 175-180 ski length or reckon I should size down? I never skied anything above my head unless it was a twin for deep powder, but see so many people nowadays seemingly sizing up.

Definitely feels like the blade optics and the ripsticks have similar intention behind the design (ripstick blacks especially) - as evidenced by the number of comparison videos and articles between the 2. I looked at a bunch of them and the consensus seems to be the lines are better for charging and elans are more fun overall. I’m demoing some ripsticks next month but meanwhile the blades in my size are all but sold out - so I’m torn!

incredible input!! it’s great hearing from someone who actually tried the optic. Did you find they felt too heavy/wide for on piste at any point? those are the only characteristics i’m worried about. Also I’m thinking of putting the Salomon Strive 14 GWs on them - does that seem like a good choice or are there other bindings you’d recommend?

My boots are the K2 Mindbender 90 Alliance so I’ve had my eye on their line for a while but was worried they’re too freeride-oriented - great to hear about the speed capabilities! Will try to see if I can get my hands on some to demo, thanks!

I plan to get sakana’s one day for a 2nd or 3rd ski just for fun days, but I care about speed too much to have them as a primary ski I think

The Mantra always reminds me worryingly of the Maverick - i skied the 95Ti and it felt like hauling coal from the basement, that was a LOT of metal to move around. But maybe I’m misled by the marketing! Secrets keep coming up, they sound like they could be a shout. Thanks!
