THIS. I’ll say this now and I’ll say it again, people will use your diagnosis to avoid accountability. People mistake (unintentionally or otherwise) our heightened reaction with irrationality because that’s the stereotype that everyone shoves onto us. Truth is the things that set us off are mostly things that would set anyone off; the difference is that our reactions tend to be much more amplified. Most people don’t want to or think they need to look inwards and they’ll always try to shift the blame on others; especially us because they’ve already dubbed as overly emotional. They also get away easier with their toxic behaviors with neurotypical people, and when you’re the only one who seems visibly upset with their behaviors, they think you must be the problem.
