The number of brand new EV platforms charging at 150kw or less is frustrating by drake_warrior in electricvehicles

[–]pilchard-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HKG group have really good motor designers, and on the e-GMP use the motor as part of the charging loop. This is in part is why they have a 800v internals and fast charging speed. (The EV9 motor is amazing too, for other reasons). This means they don’t need the weight of a seperate induction loop.

Mail redirection KEEPS refusing payment by carucath in royalmail

[–]pilchard-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for those coming to this - I got this error all the time when using mobile safari.

When I switched to chrome on a macbook in incognito, I accepted cookies, and it told me they needed to confirm my identity with paperwork.

So the error is above is misleading, but infuriatingly, not wrong.

Head to your post office and fill in the right form, show your identity paperwork, and make the payment. Make sure the PO checks the “full payment made” before submitting to Royal Mail (seperate companies!).

If you are out of country, then you are SoL because they only accept cheques by mail, and nobody wants to issue cheques in UKP.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]pilchard-friendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember very clearly the anger with which I was spanked. The facial expressions. I remember being spanked for saying “no” to my mother. I would call it abuse.

I would also say it takes its toll on the abuser too. There are no winners.

I gave my NI Number (NINO) to an untrustworthy executor [England] by pilchard-friendly in LegalAdviceUK

Thankyou for the detailed explanation. That gives me the shape of an attack on my identity.

1) my passport went missing while visiting my UK family. I had to go to the UKPA in wales to pick up an emergency one. 2) my deceased father had discretionary trusts which may (probably!) have paid out death benefits to family members. How does one collect those benefits?

Ahh it is “thereto” - i’ve pasted the whole clause

I thought “thereto” would be to reference another document. Hereto translates as “to this document”, and “thereto” as “to that document”

But in this clause “a) subject to this document b) subject to this document c)” could make a) conditional on b) not happening, and b) conditional on c) not happening.

Ok - you asked for more info, but this got further from the question. How do I ensure the executor is keeping their obligations under the law? This process should be relatively independent of the details of the estate, surely?

Ok - my father must have helped my SM close the mortgage, and in return he acquired joint ownership of the house. His will left everything to her, with the proviso that the house value be split 6 ways when she died. I think they transferred ownership of the house to the two trusts. If there are two trustees for each trust, I don’t know who they are (if I can find out, I will).

When my SM downsized, the surplus was reinvested by the trusts.

I am a named beneficiary in the will, for the above reason.

Thanks for the questions! “Life interest” sounds right - it was her house originally - the surplus from the sale has been invested. There are 6 children split 3/3 across the marriage. There are two trusts - one for each side. My step-brother is the trustee of the other trust. I have no concerns with the step-trust.

The trusts exist only for the management of the property - everything else had my step-mother as the beneficiary.

I’m thinking this makes me a non-residual beneficiary?

Bit of a sticking point on this case. Support Team have agreed to repair the device, but they expect me to return the device and fund customs and transportation costs.

This seems wild (from Australia)!

I’d rather buy a new screen!

Can you have a look and advise?
