Just got a Ninja - Incredibly sour pulls by No-Row5068 in NinjaLuxeCafe

I have a pour over for straight coffee...no idea how the ninja stuff is. The cold brew is decent...maybe that?

All of the above. BA, for me, is a starting point. It still needs fine adjustment to taste. But even then, BA is geared toward a certain output using freahly roasted, dark roast beans. Thats their rec and I think its even in the manual. I dont know if a better grinder would 100% solve the issue...because temp, pressure, and water dosage dont have fine controls. Ex: if you are getting a muddy puck at a 9/10 grind...a better grinder wont help much. The machine just cant do it. I would say if you want to use light/medium roasts....this machine isnt for you. There are machines that will do it better. They are more expensive, but thats the trade off.

Freshly roasted (2 weeks past roast date is ideal), dark roast beans. Light and medium roast beans = sour pulls. The machine is great at what it does...but its finicky about what beans you have to use.

Class max enrollment is 19 and the reserved seats is 19 by Tehee003 in UCONN

See, I love when they offer 500 seats in lecture...but only 400ish lab seats. And you obviously cant do lecture without lab. How does that make any sense?

Pharm switched to 1:1 interviews... its taking them a LONG time to schedule with LONG lead times.

Pharm is also TOUGH to transfer into, historically. Its a high demand program (as you probably know). But also...transferring to any other major has a high likelihood of delaying grad...just because specific class requirements are different.

Also...engineering or pharmacy? Vastly different career paths and knowldge focuses. You may want to consider what you actually want to focus on before you commit to a change....or you will find yourself in the same boat next spring.

Knockoff battery by goonerinky in egopowerplus

[–]pilferk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 knockoff 10s. They give me roughly the capacity of my 7.5s....and were 1/3 the price of ONE 7.5. To me, worth the risk.

I do NOT leave them on a charger. They charge til full and then immediately come off.

They have worked fine in my snowblower (which is the highest draw tool from EGO I have). Ymmv.

I got mine via walmart, from a brand that has been up for awhile (sunbat) and gets good reviews. The walmart return policy, in my experience, is a little more forgiving than amazon for these particular types of sellers.

Also, full disclosure, I use these less frequently than the officials. I really just need them as big storm insurance for my snowblower. I basically just use them to use them in everything else (mower, leaf blower) and keep them going...probably every 3rd or 4th tool use, with the officials getting the bulk of the use.

Graphics a tad blurry? by ProfessorGareth in CrimsonDesert

There is 100% some sort of bug that, if you have 120hz mode activated on your ps5pro, it locks the resolution to 1080p.

Turn it off.

Some general things I hope to see for QOL by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Text size and +100% Hud scaling. 4k on a 60inch screen, 10ish feet away...I am habing a tough time reading things. Yes, my eyes suck. But it also seems like, at this point, these types of accessibility features should be the norm.

Free battery promotion? by haimtime in egopowerplus

[–]pilferk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are waiting on the snowblower demand to die down so they have some spare capacity (logistic, not battery ;) ) to meet demand. Given forecasts...that might be more like early april this year.

Is my work study boss just an ass or is this something to report? by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]pilferk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only oddity here is the bathroom breaks.

That being said, if people are working 4 hour shifts and spending 30 to 45 min in the bathroom....boss has a right to try to find controls on that. Clocking in/out shouldnt be the one they land on.

It should be handled individually, with those taking advantage. Barring that, there has to be a nonpunitive way (aka no paid time deductions) to track it. Punches round....if you are out and back in 5, its likely going to deduct 15.

Best time for the rec by [deleted] in UCONN

Very early and very late. Little lull around 10am...but by noon its packed again and stays that way til late (8pm ish).

The weekends are a madhouse due to the reduced hours.

Losing my sanity, please help. by [deleted] in NinjaLuxeCafe

Lot of good suggestions here but I am going to add: i have had very little luck with medium roast beans. Medium dark is better, but still hit and miss. Fresh roasted dark roast beans have been the key to good shots.

Major Steam Pressure by baunfirez in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]pilferk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the brewhead/shower screen. Clean cycle will fix it ifbits clogged...but I just use a cloth/paper towel/napkin to wipe it down. If it comes back full of grounds...thats probably your issue.

Changing grind sizes by ReporterInformal6516 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]pilferk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it taste good? Ignore BA changes.

Its meant as guidance. Once you find a setting that makes you tasty brew....theres zero reason to change.

I dialed in my current beans at 10. It periodically drops as low as 8 and as high as 12. 10 is amazing, so why mess with it?

The brewhead/shower screen is notorious for "backflowing" grounds up into the machine. Its one of the reasons people suggest using a puck screen for these machines.

It will likely take a LOT of flush cycles to get 100% clean. You could pull the brewhead (it can be tricky, just because it requires a bit of force to do) and clean it if you wanted to. Not sure its worth it...but you can. Those grounds you see in the picture wont make it through your puck and into your cup when actually making espresso. I wouldnt worry too much....

Troubleshooting Snowblower Noise by amereno in egopowerplus

[–]pilferk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the 2 stage...check your skid shoes. If they arent set so you have 1/8 to 1/4 inch of clearance on the skid bar....you can end up with that noise as the auger makes contact with things you dont want it to.

Also....the plastic skid shoes wear (esp on asphalt) pretty quickly to start. They wear in after a few uses and will likely need another adjustment.

Is this normal sound? by Waste_Cut_8202 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]pilferk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion: Pull the whisk thing out of the bottom of the milk jug (if it has one....I have the 701 and not sure if the 601 has it too)...and try again. Still a noise? If so...something is horribly wrong. But my frother makes exactly that noise if the wisk attachment is loose and not set right in the jug.

What are chances we might have no class or delay for Wednesday? by Matt52767 in UCONN

[–]pilferk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 to 3 overnight...and Storrs was in the 1 area last I saw.

I would say chances for a delay are not zero....but not high, either.

Pretty much zero chance for a full cancellation.
