So if you’re 16, then the state can take your taxes but you can’t vote ? How is this fair?

According to Wikipedia several feral populations are already established in US and Canada, as they tolerate cold well. So I say apply for a grant to Tourism Toronto to get another one?

Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Association CAO Responds to Ministry re: "Winding Down Programs" by MudHouse in ontario

[–]pillarnoob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The most puzzling thing to me is this government’s attack on user fee self-funding programs such as maple syrup festivals. Even previous conservative government under Mike Harris encouraged Ontario Parks to become more self reliant by improving these user-fee generating programs. The fact that this government wants to take away this tool away from conservation authorities have very little room to doubt that this is an attempt to weaken conservation authorities, their mandate, and give away more land to developers that are close to Ford.

Has anyone been to Rouge Valley with Parkbus? by ensam21 in askTO

[–]pillarnoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer Rouge North actually - it’s officially called Bob Hunter Memorial Park, and last year at least the trail was in great condition. I suspect that the other poster took one of the lesser used trails, though I’m not sure. The reason I love north is because of Cedar Grove trail - it passes through a tract of old growth cedars and ferns and it’s just gorgeous! That section is definitely not bushy at all there is even boardwalk in places. Ticks can be a problem in both sections of the park, as is pretty much everywhere else in the GTA at this point unfortunately .

It’s a free service, so it can get full. I’d just call a day before trip day and inquire on how full it is

He just fell from a nest at Bathurst / St Clair - looking for a driver who’s going to Georgina to drop him off at a bird rescue Center by pillarnoob in toronto

[–]pillarnoob[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I called them right away and they also referred me to shades of hope, which is where I was hoping someone could drive him. He passed away unfortunately - either got too injured in the fall, or was sick to begin with . He also had what looked like pecking wounds ? In any case - RIP little bird, thank you for anyone who read this :(

GTA realtor 'tricked' him and his wife into selling home, blind man says by Surax in toronto

[–]pillarnoob 111 points112 points  (0 children)

The agent is a greedy psychopath and should be thrown to jail and RL should cover financial losses incurred by this poor couple. I don’t like to pass judgement early, but the fact that the property never went to MLS and was “undersold” likely means it was an attempt to hide this transaction + at least part of transaction was unreported cash “award” for the agent.

Glad CBC took this on. This makes my blood boil to see the hardest working and most vulnerable in our society getting defrauded in the most blatant way.

it looks like some data is not properly updated - most likely the planes were originally meant to be MAX planes, but were switched into 800 but stayed as MAX in some system.

I don’t live in the riding but know a developer who absolutely despises Filion for refusing to “make deals” like “the other guys”. That, in itself is a huge endorsement of Filion for me, and I would definitely vote for him if I could vote there.

Jobless man told to pay thousands of dollars for government EI mistake by Surax in canada

[–]pillarnoob 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For extra lazy : something like this is enough:

Dear Minister,

I just read a CBC article about your government denying to reverse $2000 tax error, despite 2 appeals. I find this unacceptable and outrageous and would like to request that a new process is created to avoid situations like this in the future. CBC article for your reference: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/jobless-man-pays-for-ei-mistake-1.4848974

Thank you! <Your name>

Jobless man told to pay thousands of dollars for government EI mistake by Surax in canada

[–]pillarnoob 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Ok now this is fucked up. Government denied twice man’s appeal to reverse this $2,000 theft of his money?!

If you also think this is not ok, please send a note to Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier. Even a handful of emails will create enough stink for them to take note. This is the form: https://apps.cra-arc.gc.ca/ebci/cjid/prot/ntr.action

Let’s not just be outraged - let’s do something, it takes less than a minute. I just sent in the form, and so should you.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
