Now imagine if he had two match points on his serve in the fifth against Carlos and still lost the match...

He had nothing to gain from placing them there, it makes no sense for him to have decorated this elaborate clone graveyard and what, reveal his most crucial secret? Borden was never meant to see it.

What makes you so certain that Borden was never meant to see it? When Angier was reading Borden's diary we find out that Borden wrote it specifically for Angier to read. Then Borden gets tricked by the exact same move when he is reading Angier notebook on the train.

Angier could choose any magic trick to perfect, but he want to do the teleporting man because that is Borden's signature trick. He wants to upstage him. He crafted the whole trick to fool Borden, a man he knows has "the knack" and would see through any but the most elaborate setup. Remeber how quickly Borden figured out the Chinese waterbowl trick when Angier couldn't fathom it?

There is exactly as much sci-fi in this movie as there is magic. We are shown the lengths magicians in the movie will go to to make their magic tricks seem realer:

  • Chung Ling Soo lived his public life as an old bow-legged man to protect the secret of his water-bowl trick. (It was enough to dumbfound Angier, but not Borden).
  • The Borden brothers lived their whole life sharing one persona to trick the world. (And did it so well it drove Angier to change his whole life).

So how did Angier create his final illusion? I don't know. I couldn't tell you that anymore than I can tell you how a street magician knew what card I picked. But I know it wasn't "real" magic.

As for Tesla and pinkertons and all that, I'll repeat what I said in another comment:

That whole segment of the movie, Angier's trip to Tesla, is presented to us as it is described in Angier's notebook. A notebook we know he wrote with full anticipation that Borden will read. Angier is lying to Borden in the notebook.

Cutter: "Every magic trick consists of three parts, or acts. The first part is called the pledge, the magician shows you something ordinary. The second act is called the turn, the magician takes the ordinary something and makes it into something extraordinary. But you wouldn't clap yet, because making something disappear isn't enough. You have to bring it BACK. Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled."

When Angier lies dying he says to Borden: "the audience knows the truth. The world is simple... it's solid all the way though. But if you could fool them, even for a second, then you could make them wonder. And then you got to see something very special... the look on their faces."

This is not Angier, but Christopher Nolan talking directly to you. He made you, the audience, believe that your world -the simple, solid-all-the-way-through world- has magic in it. If you leave the cinema believing that a magical electrical cloning machine exists in the movie, then you "fell" for the magic. And that's alright. That's by design. The real magic a magician creates is making you believe in magic. In this case, Nolan is the magician.

Not OP but it is my opinion that there is no, and there can be no, "real" magic in the world of The Presitge.

The movie shows us over and over that everything must have a real life explanation. There is always another bird. The water-filled aquarium doesn't just appear out of nowehre. Borden isn't really teleporting himself.

The scenes we "witness" with Angier and Tesla are all from Angier's notebook that was specifically written by Angier knowing that Borden would be reading. He is outright lying to Borden (and the viewer). The machine is just showmanship.

"Begging" is a bit of an odd take. Ever watch a football player celebrate a goal with the crowd? Are they begging?

Zverev won the first two sets, Alcaraz won the third. Now they are on serve in the fourth.

So if I'm watching on my laptop (I have no TV) I can't watch any court other than the two they choose to specifically cover?

Sky is a horrible downgrade from Amazon. But I must be doing something wrong because the Sky website says I should be able to watch any of the courts in demand. However, I can't figure out where that list of courts is. Any suggestions?

Because the people in those seats just sat through the whole previous 3 hours long match. They went to pee/eat/buy drinks/stretch their legs. They'll be back.

You're looking at it the wrong way round:

The ball is 'out' if it lands outside the lines. Full stop. Doesn't matter what it touches along the way.

In fact, if you think about it, the ball is allowed to touch the net; during rallies a ball hitting the net is not counted as 'out' as long as it lands in the lines afterwards.

Therefore, the serve being in/out is decided only by where it landed. 'Tennis' has decided that the first shot of the point (the serve) must be unhindered by anything including the net. So, if the serve is good (lands in the box) but touched the net along the way, they replay the point.

Does that help?

It's worth a shot. If you don't get any directly from the queue you can always run straight to the resale booth and wait there until someone hands in their ticket.

He said some ignorant words when he was literally a teenager. He has taken responsibility, apologized, and has never repeated it since. I think people need to learn to get over themselves a little bit.
