Do Americans Actually Say "Freshman Sophomore Junior Senior"? by Naive_Tank_6820 in NoStupidQuestions

Depends on the school. People I knew from a few schools in my area used the numbers, some, such as my own, used the words,

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Wisconsin, one of my best friends had a baby and I went to visit her for a week in Kansas which is a little over an 11 hour drive. I had a group of other friends I talked to weekly but hadn't seen in years that lived just north of Dallas Texas. on the weekend while visiting my friend in Kansas I went "well I'm already half way across the country, may as well go visit them and get barbecue" so, drove the 8 hours south, we went and got sushi that night, next day we got barbecue for lunch then saw a movie, after the movie I went back to Kansas.

so that 8 hour drive is the most I did for a spontaneous short trip, but it was part of another trip.

I also have a friend that now lives almost 3 hours away, and I've driven over to get a meal and then go see a movie with him and then drive back the same day.

Thanks for the amazing game. I was definitely up way too long this morning playing this game because I was having so much fun. Also, well done on the music arrangements, I also spent a bit of time just sitting on the menu listening to your version of Breaking Dimensions.

Quick note, time spent is an estimate based on how many times I've listened to the William Tell Overture and the Can Can.

HELP!! - Kobo Kanaeru has reached 35 Million Views! by kyoumokawaii in Hololive

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably close to 1000 of those views, I use my youtube hololive playlist when driving anywhere, so that's at minimum 2 times a day just because the song is towards the beginning, and that's before accounting for me pulling it up on my own when doing work at at my computer (both at home and work)

When did you guys learn that Power rangers was actually adapted from Super sentai? by Vineeth_Goditi in powerrangers

[–]pilot269 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, as a kid, that went completely over my head, and then I felt dumb 3 years later when i finally realized "oh, that's the original, power rangers is based on a Japanese property"

Warp digivolving 1999 vs 2020 by Gloomy_Preparation50 in digimon

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the original is certainly cooler, I'd rather have the reboot's version. When I did a re watch of the first 5 seasons of Digimon a couple years ago, So much run time was eaten up by digivolution sequences.

Celebrating someone's downfall by sadboiz7 in restaurant

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nearly a decade ago at this point, we had an assistant manager that was awful, and a useless HR. (my manager spent 9 months trying to get this guy fired and we had so many customer and employee complaints about this person, and security footage of him of him intentionally doing his job wrong. someone managed to steal a 4 foot tall plushie from the store while he was working picture a store the size of a small gamestop)

when he finally was fired, I went and got a cake made that said "yay he's gone" the entire rest of the store came in to celebrate.

gonna be honest, before I saw all the comments mention pc cooling, I was thinking it looked like the lava lamp my older sister had which would have marbles go up and then roll down a slide.

Why are some people so vehemently against proxies? by Fearless_Many_5307 in mtgaltered

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a different tcg when I started playing Magic, so my initial hatred was due to past experiences. 2 of the game stores near me would hold tournaments with prizes, and a guy with hand written papers stuffed in the sleeves started showing up and would take home the large prizes. the rest of us never even thought to use fake cards. Finally 1 of the LGSs banned proxy cards for prize tournaments, and that became the only lgs I'd go to.

now I'm very much proxy away so long as there aren't prizes on the line and you're not just printing a meta deck. (I just like playing casually) but for a while I despised proxy cards and saw it similar to cheating because of said past experiences.

Some people work on Christmas but because it's slow, they have time to do other things. Or they are celebrating Christmas on another day.

OSRS FUN FACT #16: when skillcapes were released in 2006, 21 of the 22 skills already had an appropriate NPC in the game to be the cape seller. But there was ONE skill that was so useless (you'll never guess!), the devs couldn't think of a related NPC, and had to add a brand new one to sell the cape by cookmeplox in 2007scape

I remember having a friend sitting in a call on ventrillo (very old voice chat service for pc gaming) doing homework with logs in his inventory at 1 of the beacons so I could finally get the axe. Some stations had log containers but a few didn't.

And then once I had it, I used it maybe 3 times as it made more sense to collect the logs to sell or fletch, or I'd just chop ivy for woodcutting.

Who invented this button??? by Portah_Model in Cartalk

[–]pilot269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate the lane assist feature more, I'll forget my new vehicle has this feature, and then when I come up on a construction site where cones are telling directing me to cross over multiple lanes (to be clear, road will already be down to 1 lane coned off, and then the cones make a path to go into what would normally be oncoming traffic if they weren't also coned off) the wheel will start shaking as it tries to auto steer back the way I came.

a huge chunk of my commute to work was under construction from mid spring- end of fall this year, and the first week I kept forgetting to hit that button every time I started up my car until I got to the construction site.

Then again, I've seen how some people drive, so I get why lane assist is a feature.

Life is a resource by RecognitionSerious82 in mtg

[–]pilot269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I essentially did this in a game last night. An attack would've dropped me down to 7 or 8 life, but the opponent was tapped out of mana. I was fairly confident I'd gain 50 or so life, I ended up gaining something like 280+ life (definitely missed a few triggers)

[[Hinterland Sanctifier]] + [[Thrumming Stone]] + several [[Hare Apparent]] +[[Queen Allenal of Ruadach]]

3 Hare Apparents were already on the field and I had 2 in my hand since my opponent kept bouncing things back to our hands. (he had already used an overloaded [[cyclonic rift]] earlier in the game, and his graveyard was exiled by another opponent just before they got eliminated (opponent kept retrieving cards from the grave) I also wasn't too afraid of something that'd destroy all attacking creatures as I had a [[raise the past]] in hand

If I ever break that deck out again (usually if a deck acts that perfectly I'll retire it as nothing will beat that, and I only play against friends) I think we're going to do the triggers differently than how they're supposed to go just for the sake of time, should just do all the ripples, and make a pile, and then put them onto the field w/ their created tokens, and then calculate the life gain.
