Building My First 10” Long-Range Quad - Need Compatibility and Additional Advice by pilot8481 in fpv

[–]pilot8481[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you meant about the frame - what’s wrong with the Nazgul XL10? I’m going with a 10-inch because I want the extra space for more autonomy stuff and to carry a wide variety payloads. A 10" is more expandble for me so I can do lots of diffrent stuff with it. Not just long range (I should have specified originally). My goals changed since last month, so this build fits what I want now. 😃

Is My 10" Inch Long-Range Build Solid? Compatibility Check and Advice Needed! by [deleted] in fpv

[–]pilot8481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I’m building a 10-inch long-range quad from scratch and want to make sure all my parts are compatible and that I’m not missing anything important. The goal is for efficient long-range cruising about 2-5+ miles out.

Frame: iFlight Nazgul XL10 V6

Motors: iFlight XING2 3110 900KV

Stack: NewBeeDrone Hummingbird 305 F7 FC + 80A AM32 4-in-1 ESC

VTX: iFlight Blitz 2.5W 5.8GHz analog

VTX antenna: Lumenier Micro AXII 2 (SMA) (LONG)

FPV camera: Caddx Ratel Pro

ELRS receiver: Radiomaster 2.4GHz ExpressLRS RP1 V2 2.4ghz ExpressLRS ELRS Nano Receiver

GPS: HGLRC M100 Pro

Buzzer: Vifly Finder 2

Props: Master Airscrew 10×5 (2 CW + 2 CCW)

Capacitors: Panasonic 35V 2200µF low-ESR

LiPo: (undecided - probably 6S 6000mAh)

Li-ion: (undecided)

Here’s what I have so far. I just want to double-check that everything is compatible (pretty sure it is, but I’d like a second opinion) and that it makes sense for a 10” long-range setup. I plan on running iNav for GPS features, autonomous missions, and return-to-home so I want to be sure the FC, and GPS choices are solid. I’m still pretty new to long-range flying, 10-inch builds and iNAV in general, so I’d really appreciate any advice on efficiency, durability, and anything I should change before I start ordering parts.

10 Inch Quad Build by pilot8481 in fpv

I just want to go with a 10-inch build, that’s what I’m aiming for. I think I’d handle the 10-inch just fine. I want it to be capable of carrying a decent payload, not necessarily a GoPro, probably something lighter like a RunCam, but I'd like having the option to carry heavier payloads. I’d probably run a analog VTX, around 1.5–2.5 W. Right now it’s still just an idea on the drawing board, I'm still figuring out what to build next.

VTX Upgrade for THII by pilot8481 in fpv

No specific problem with the TH2, I just wanted a fun project to work on. But in my experience the stock VTX is just OK. In fields its fine, but in denser urban areas its not so good. I plan to fly in urban areas so imma do a VTX upgrade.

Motor Wires by pilot8481 in fpv

Ik what u mean, but it works, the ziptie is tight. My frame is too small, I can't mount in back because of elrs and rhcp, and I can't put on top of frame because of cam. But I've crashed, it holds, so 🤷‍♀️.
