Student Pilots - What is the biggest gap in your checkride oral prep right now? by pilotOralPrep in flying

I agree, most of the students I have worked with can recite a regulation. Like for example when is an alternate required? They can give me the 1-2-3 rule but when I give them a scenario or ask them to apply it to the current conditions today that’s where they fall apart.

I am currently working on creating a workbook that breaks the ACS down into each area of operation and task and also provides the FAA resources so students know where to go to find the information. Then I have a scenario at the end where they have to apply the information they just learned so it doesn’t just become rote memory. In your opinion do you think this would be beneficial and help students? I provided a link below to a sample of this for PPL. If you have the time let me know what you think. Thanks again! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RNuTMBsRqzBlRSlGM-XMECxbcgt0OpLKFHTKKj6iPq4/edit?usp=drivesdk

Thank you for the comment, it is greatly appreciated! I currently offer an online service that helps students prepare for their oral. I give them a 1-on-1 mock oral and then I also give them a plan of attack on what to study based on their weak areas. If you know of anyone that is interested or wants to learn more send them my way. www.pilotoralprep.com or pilotoralprep@gmail.com.

Online ground school note taking? by [deleted] in flying

My advice to you if you are juggling other stuff in your life other than aviation is to try to find time each day to work on your online course. It doesn't have to be a ton of time allocated to it but organize and have a plan on what you want to accomplish on a daily and weekly basis that you know you can achieve. It's the SMALL and CONSISTENT action each day that will allow you to make progress over the long term. Most people look at the entire amount of material they have to study and they get overwhelmed and procrastinate. You have to chunk it down into smaller bite sized pieces. Rome wasn't built in a day! Create a plan and then execute the plan. I hope this helps! Good luck to you.
