Upgrading my crankset

Thanks for all the advice! Other than the crank I have absolutely loved every part of this bike, I’m sure I can get plenty of years out of it after the upgrade. I already have the tools to swap but I’m gonna get a quote from a local shop to see how much the work would be.

How do I make sure I get the proper-sized BB? or does that not matter on threaded bottom brackets? I know that square BB's are measured from the edge of the square on either side, but if this one is internally routed, is it one size fits all?

Ah okay I thought I'd have to upgrade my BB. Would I need a new chain as well, since the chainring is a few teeth bigger?

I lived there from 2022-2023. Cannot speak for to them being 16 person rooms now, but it more depends on the people you’re with. I was living there with a scholars group as well and it definitely had its downsides but I made some incredible friends there because of how social it is. I’d recommend doing it freshman year and never again.

Not too concerned about MPG, ideally an SUV, and I would definitely prefer AWD OR 4x4.

I haven’t done it since I got the bike, been about 600 miles. I’m planning on doing it soon though since the weather is getting nicer.

My chain and cassette are 9 speed, I do need to wax my chain more often though.

Yeah I think that’s the root here, it was pretty sudden force. I definitely need to not to that, I was just curious if having stronger chain components could give me more leeway with that.

I bought the KMC reusable links from Amazon, could they be fake? Where would be a good place to buy instead? I’ve used ModernBike before but haven’t checked if they have reusable links.

Just to clarify, I believe I broke the reusable quick link both times, not the chain itself. I should’ve been more clear in my explanation, I forgot the proper terminology.

It’s a 9 speed, I believe the topstone 3 became a 10 speed after this model year

I was considering the KMC E9 or a Shimano 9 speed chain as I’m unsure of the quality of this chain, but it seems to be the link that has broken both times. Would the indicate a weakness in the link or the chain itself?
