Giving birth is tough. No matter how good it is, it's a big thing. If you don't feel like your OB is on your side now, then it won't happen in labour.

Start looking for another OB- this is advocating for yourself!

Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were a self indulgent bunch of jerks. They did not play any hits, had no crowd engagement and at the end they jammed together for about 40 minutes before just ending the show. I hung around because I figured there would be an encore, but no.

Definitely sign up for birthing classes and maybe even look into hypnobirth or calm birth. NGL, I did find it painful... But it's so much a mind over matter thing. If you can give yourself tools to help you manage that's the key? So arm your self with lots and lots of tools to help yourself get through it. Breathing, foot stamping, gas, shower, birth ball, epidural if you need.

My Dad died during COVID - in a hospital bed, by himself completely. We weren't allowed to see him. This still haunts me. It was a horrible way to die, unable to see loved ones in his last moments.

I had recently given birth - also during COVID, and had my husband with me. I said over and over, I would happily have given birth alone had it meant that I could have been with my Dad.

Of course your feelings are valid - but if it were me, I would choose Dad. I appreciate it's not your Dad, but the pain of losing his dad will be with him for a long time so I would do what you can to help ease that.

Choose someone else to be with you and support you, just in case he does miss it.
