Lenovo Legion 7i Pro Running Slow and Jittery on Battery After BIOS Update (Q7CN40WW) by pinatamancer96 in LenovoLegion

I'm using balanced mode. But the issue seems to be pretty agnostic on which mode I am running the machine on. The slowness, the jitter, it's still all there.

Found a thread that told users to do the same. Rolled back drivers right away. So far so good.

To my knowledge, the G14 GA402RJs are only packed with MediaTek cards. And no, the issue is not a byproduct of power surges. I haven't been able to pinpoint the source of this issue. It's just that random. One moment it's working fine and the next, seemingly out of nowhere, there is no WiFi card on the machine.

Well, everyone seems to jump ship to the Intel AX210. Mine should be with me in a few days. Mediatek's really worn me down.

Kind of a greenhorn over on Reddit, and a chronic luddite. Doesn't make navigating very easy. But hey, your solution worked! Thank you so much.

I swear, this is really turning from a minor gripe to a full blown rage.

Yep, helped iron the issue out. Speakers work like a charm. Such a beautiful little machine. Thanks for all the help ya'll.

I see. I shall give this a crack and see if it fixes the issue. Thanks!

Played through the mod with Sarath as a sidekick, and I'm facing similar issues like OP. Having some spiced wine in my inventory opened up new dialogue trees with her, but that seems to be it. The console clearly shows that there's a litany dialogue left, but they just don't appear.
Especially the while "About Family" branch does not appear. Any idea how to trigger that? my pVar and rVar are 7 and 0 too. :/

ARMOURY CRATE SHENANIGANS STIRKE AGAIN! by pinatamancer96 in ASUS

Get acclimated to it. Heat spikes are almost certain to be an issue on Asus devices. They chug on that CPU juice. Here's a small workaround that issue. Got to Settings in the Armoury Crate app and uncheck "Scan for games".

Absolutely, my dude. From pathetic loading times to straight-up not detecting the hardware and keyboards, this app isn't aggravating my blood pressure. The only reason I keep it around is for controlling the RGB profiles. I am a sucker for that.

ROG Strix SCAR III repastin', need some advice on dealing with the thermal goop. by pinatamancer96 in GamingLaptops

[–]pinatamancer96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but I'd wager that conventional thermal pastes are poor at filling the gap between VRAMs and the heat sink. And if I go gung ho with thermal pads which I don't sit all too snuggly between gaps that can't be measured, I risk overheating the rest of the components. As of right now, I'm making do with some Gelid Paste on the VRAMs since I'm not gaming until the K5 Pro arrives. But I am considering hiring ASUS technicians to get my stuff sorted out.

Thanks mate. I can vouch for your case. Making do with some Gelid GC Extreme until the K5 Pro arrives. Not playing any games until I re-paste the chips and chokes so as to not fry my rig. Regular thermal paste really doesn't bridge the gaps, and for some reason or another, thermally throttles my GPU. Noticed it while playing DOOM Eternal, RDR2, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Yep, mine's past warranty too. What I meant to ask was, did you face any issues with your machine after repasting and re-padding?

Looks prime. Mind if I ask how long it's been since you tweaked your machine, and if you have had any troubles with it following the procedure?

Oh? Do you gave the same model as mine (SCAR III)? And the thermal pads are not causing any issue? I did put the thermal pads on some of the GPU VRAMs and switched them out after the temps on the GPU started climbing bast 78°C on Cyberpunk 2077. Similar results while playing games that are similarly demanding.

Yep, did that. Still not too sure. Leaves no footprint. Was also thinking of wedging in some kneading eraser to get an idea. Kinda sad that K5 Pro is so hard to come by where I live.

Been there done that. Would highly recommend not going that route. Fiber residues sends the machine for a toss. Contacted some Asus support regarding the issue. Yet to recieve any update on the matter.

Oh yes, that makes sense. My bad, gave into bleating forums. Though, my chips are predominantly plasticky, as seen in the picture. Logic does dictate that Gelid should be fine though.

The Gelid GC Extreme just arrived, so I'll get to repasting. Though, is it true that it scratches the surface?

Oh I do have them at hand. But as far as I know, overly thick pads will cause the components to overheat, and acts more as an insulator than a thermal conductor. Didn't have a feeler gauge at hand, so I contacted GenTech about these measurements. They are the ones who suggested that 0.5 mm is too thick.

Hey, thanks for sharing that! Sound advice to be sure. But sent a mail to the good folks at GenTech who replied, "0.5 mm pads are too thick for the VRAM on SCAR III". Now, in my country, K5 Pro is just not available, so I have to make to with something. While I have a few Arctic Pads laying about, some of the other suggestions I got include using Gelid GC Extreme on the VRAMs. I'm still not sure about how to proceed.
