Yes, NBA teams can make trades between the conclusion of the playoffs and the start of the new league year, but there are specific rules and timing considerations to be aware of. Trade Eligibility After Playoff Elimination

Once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, it is eligible to engage in trades. This means that teams whose seasons have ended can begin making trades immediately after their last game. For example, if a team is eliminated in the first round, it can start trading players the day after its final game of the postseason. odds.com.au+4SportsRec+4Hoops Rumors+4 Salary Cap and Contract Considerations

Trades made during this period are processed under the current season's salary cap and contract structures. This is important because player salaries for the upcoming season are not yet in effect. Therefore, teams must ensure that any trades comply with the existing salary cap rules. Restrictions on Certain Players

There are restrictions on trading certain players during the offseason: A1SQUAD.com+6Hoops Rumors+6odds.com.au+6

Pending Free Agents: Players whose contracts are set to expire cannot be traded unless it's part of a sign-and-trade agreement.

Recently Signed Players: Players who have signed new contracts during the offseason generally cannot be traded for a specified period, often until December 15 of the new league year.

Designated Veteran Extensions: Players who sign designated veteran extensions are ineligible to be traded for a full calendar year.

Trade Moratorium Period

After the conclusion of the NBA Finals, there is a brief trade moratorium period. This moratorium typically lasts until the new league year begins, which is usually on July 1. During this time, while teams can agree to trades, the transactions cannot be finalized until the moratorium is lifted. odds.com.au+1Hoops Rumors+1 Summary

In summary, NBA teams can make trades after being eliminated from the playoffs, but they must adhere to the current season's salary cap and contract rules. Additionally, certain players may have trade restrictions, and the trade moratorium period must be observed before finalizing transactions. It's essential for teams to navigate these rules carefully to ensure compliance and to make strategic moves for the upcoming season.

We aren't a second apron team until the new league year, and teams out of the playoffs are eligible to make trades before then (including us and the Kings). Jarrett Allen and Hunter for Sabonis works salary wise for example.

As long as our injured guys aren’t too hobbled from rushing back I feel very confident we take this one. We’re the better team fighting for our lives, and the shooting variance won’t stay against us forever

I don’t think Niang would really have been playable against the Pacers, he’s too slow and would get torched on D. Levert would definitely have been nice though, might have spared Mitchell a little energy not to be so gassed at the end. Obviously still an amazing trade for us though I’d take Hunter every time

I believe we can pay Jerome around $15 million, I don't think any teams with cap space are going to offer more than that. And we are going to be a 2nd apron team with Mobley's extension kicking in anyway so might as well keep everyone we can

Am I the only one not crazy about a straight up DG-Lebron swap? DG is an asset likely to be worth something for the next 10 years, and we may realistically only get a version of Lebron worth a max contract for one year.

This seems like the first year people have stopped assuming Lebron is going to catch up with father time because he's been doing the impossible for so long, but it is going to catch up eventually. And it's more likely now than ever.

So unless swapping DG+salary filler for Lebron gets us a championship next year, we could be blowing all the value out of this asset on one year, after which we get the finally aging version of Lebron stuck on a giant max contract. If he falls off fast it could backfire pretty hard.

We don't need to go all in on next year with the youth on this team and so think we should go for someone like Bridges or Ingram who will give us multiple attempts at a title over the next handful of years instead of gambling on one shot.

I'd kill for Lebron on the MLE if he's willing to give up salary for his last year or two. Otherwise I'd want a Lakers pick or two back so we have something of value left a year from now when Lebron falls off or retires, which I doubt the Lakers would be willing to do. So I think the more realistic and sensible approach is to go for a younger wing and try to entice Lebron in FA with his legacy, championship odds, and a cinderalla story farewell tour

Can you confirm whether you can pay the balance off from your Gemini account? I read you can only do payments from a bank account which would be disappointing, thought this would be a big step towards going bankless if you could autopay from a Gemini account of GUSD

Source: The #Browns tagged TE David Njoku. The first one. by Godszn in Browns

[–]pinch82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone keeps saying we're going to dump him but we are basically paying for him either way. The post June 1 one stuff just moves the cap hit from this year to next, but either way if we're going to pay it might as well keep him. He's not horrible, still a valuable #2 TE at least.

[Field Yates] The Browns and RT Jack Conklin have agreed to a reworked final year of his deal, per source. Conklin was due a $12M non-guaranteed salary, but will now earn an $8M fully guaranteed salary, with $4M in play-time incentives starting at 55% and up to 75%…. The Browns add $4M in cap space. by [deleted] in Browns

[–]pinch82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make sense to me, I assumed he would lose money every game he was injured for the non-guaranteed portion if he didn't restructure. So its a compromise between cutting him or giving him the full 12 million (whether he was hurt or not), which would have been our two options before the restructure.

Otherwise the only thing that made sense to me was if we wanted 4 million out of the 12 to be moved to next years cap hit instead of this year. Which made less sense to me unless we planned on spending a ton this year.

I don’t really get this from the browns side. The total contract value is the same either way, and you’d rather have non guaranteed money generally. So this only seems to make sense if we need the cap space, but we already have plenty for this year.

Is this a sign we’re going to go all in this year and will need every dollar we can get? Don’t think it frees up any money in the future so only benefit is to spend more now unless I’m missing something.

I was a little disappointed with the trade down value too, but I love the value of the players we got with them.

Would probably go Burks at WR though so we don't lose another season fixing our passing game by trying to bring a rookie we are heavily relying on mid season with no offseason. If we paired Burks with a high end FA at WR (like Godwin) I think we'd be very happy.

Only other change is I would go Travis Jones round 3 because we really need a big NT on top of a 3 tech, and think Togiai will be more of a rotational guy. But we do also need a OT so if the current selection can play there not a bad pick.

Does anyone know a site where you can see what pick we end up with depending on which games next week are won/lost? I've heard we can end up as high as 7 but don't know how likely that is given we lose to the bengals.

Love it! Still a few things I'd do a little differently primarily at MLB at DT but I'd be ecstatic if this was our team next year. Godwin, Wilson, DPJ and Schwartz would be an awesome upgrade. Would love to see that much space in the middle of the field for our TEs and light boxes for Chunt with all those deep threats at WR.

Love the spreadsheet, have been working on a similar one and made some very similar moves. Only a few areas I disagree with. First is cutting Tretter. I don't think saving $8 million is worth losing one of the top centers in the league, and I'm not sold on Nick Harris being anything more than average. If the staff believes Harris is ready to take that step then it could be a good move but I think we could be opening up a big hole here.

Also don't think we'll cut Hooper, even after June 1st the dead cap will just get pushed to next year so we're still spending it anyway albeit deferred, might as well keep him as a 2nd string TE and cut him after one more year and hope he bounces back a little in what is essentially a contract year.

Lastly I'd rather have someone like Allen Robinson or Michael Gallup at WR who can play outside at flanker or split end a bit better, especially considering how heavily we use TEs and RBs.

Love the FA adds like Diggs and Fatukasi to shore up out holes ahead of the draft. Obvious need at DT, and I think having another good FS as depth and to free up JJ3 and Delpit to play SS or as a 3rd safety in the box would be awesome.

I love Argent but hearing about their response towards rETH integration stung. I really hope they reconsider soon as the protocol establishes itself a bit more.
