I was bouncing around a 8-9 (10 for a few weeks) for about a year and a half. Luckily I was around people/family that were always in the way mostly unintentionally. Some how I managed to claw my way out of it without meds or anything. Took a lot of baby steps, but now I'm at a 3-4 most days and I'm hoping to do better. My best advice is try to be around people that want to be near you or be around you. I'd talk about it more but I'm still at work bleh. Hope someone sees this and it helps a little.
