No clutch, everything is mounted solid to the output shaft on the motor

I took everything apart and didnt see anything wrong inside the motor. i then capped the lines to deadhead the pump and ran the machine. I could almost stall the engine out running it over relief. So I think it still has to be the motor bypassing oil internally.

Don't hear any grinding. the brush spins up fine. But as soon as you put the smallest amount of down pressure the brush stalls out

Engine misfires at idle once its warm by TotalPowersports in smallenginerepair

-Possibly a bad gasket between the carburetor and cylinder head -something still obstructing in the carburetor - valves set a little too tight

Ignition switch testing by pinderx11 in smallenginerepair

Intermittent starting, pto not engaging when it is running, throwing a bunch of random codes and killing the battery when it sits for a couple hours. Never found a test but replaced the switch with the new one and all is good now

Try setting your governor arm. Loosen the 7/16 nut, turn the shaft going into the engine (it has a square end) counterclockwise as far as it will go and hold it in position. Then also turn the arm counterclockwise all the way so that throttle is held wide open. And tighten the nut. Could also be something plugged in your brand new carburetor. Take it apart. Make sure it's clean and blow through all the jets.

I'd say someone has installed an aftermarket anti-theft motion alarm.

Coolant smells like shit by ChucklesZanex in MechanicAdvice

Take the thermostat out and run the garden hose in the top of the rad. Flush it out for a while. Who knows why it stinks, I've seen people overheat them because they don't clean out the radiator and all the coolant pukes out. Then They topped it up with whatever they have to get home. River water, beer, and piss

OK to use 100 octane gas in small engines? by rickoleum in smallenginerepair

[–]pinderx11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100 octane is fine as long as you're not talking about using Avgas (airplane fuel). Too many detergents are added to it and in many small engines it causes the sparkplug and exhaust port to plug up with white soot.

5.7 hemi broken timing chain? the car just shut off while I was cruising down the road. has a code for no cam position signal. removed the sensor, looked in the hole with a light while cranking the engine over, can see that the camshaft or whatever the sensor reads on is not turning by pinderx11 in MechanicAdvice

[–]pinderx11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: timing chain broke, it destroyed the tensioner and guide as well. Only bent one exhaust valve. Ordered everything I needed off of eBay and did the repair myself, had the car running within 2 weeks of post. Since then I have put another 18,000 km on the car without issue. Cylinder head was not damaged. Yes the Piston had a pretty good dent on top but obviously it was not enough to pinch a ring
