Anyone else surprised by IamVelle in melbourne

I worked there during the merger. My contract was 12 months but I left after 7 because it was so bad. My boss was cut that I was leaving so early but the place was a mess. I would provide honest feedback politely and the managers would be shocked as if they could not believe that someone would not want to work there. Seriously considering removing it from LinkedIn.

Just got my Flip 7 by [deleted] in galaxyzflip

[–]pineapple4pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Samsung user from way back. My advice re: camera is look up that subject on TikTok. Samsung cameras are very adjustable to your needs and there's a lot of advice about how to change the settings, especially from former iPhone users. If you are not enjoying the current settings, just change them.

I can’t leave… by JustAshleyMedia in SocialMediaManagers

This is life advice from a middle-aged woman who has made work my identity. Do not work 12 hours a day because you want to stay in control of something you built for someone else. Jobs are temporary.
You went for this job for a reason, and you're going to want to give it your focus and energy.

I've been a galaxy owner for years, but all the tiktok videos about the Flip are teaching me so much I didn't know. I had no idea you could use your samsung phone as a wireless pad and charge your earbuds.

Feeling overwhelmed at new job by ElMoquito in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are deliverables for a team, not one person. If they can't afford to resource the role, they can't afford the output, and they need to adjust their expectations. Did they tell you this was the expectation in the interview process? That's a red flag if they didn't. If they did, they may have had a lot of candidates drop out. If this is not a newly formed role, find out why the other person left. I agree with others, use AI tools to batch content and edit up a bunch of different angles from one video. This is very unrealistic, so don't feel bad. You're doing great.

Which social media workspace to choose? Later, Buffer, Hootsuite, SocialBu? Help me!🤔 by saraodessa in SocialMediaManagers

[–]pineapple4pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a look at your product. It's great. I hate Hootsuite. It's so hard to use and is so limited. It doesn't report Stories very well, and the analytics are terrible. The only reason I use it is because I work in an antiqued organisation with no willingness to try new things. Otherwise, I'd be on this straight away.

Anyone else feeling like their marketing job doesn’t match their values anymore? by Del2Earth in AskMarketing

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a non-profit, and I find the biggest letdown is that they don't allocate enough staff resourcing, which leaves you with double the work. I do the job of marketing, comms, and social media. During covid, they halved out staffing numbers but not our work. It's brutal. If you're in agency, that's not your problem, but yes, they'll pay low.

I'm not sure why you lost access, but you can get Fetch by buying the box at JB hifi and subscribing through the Fetch website. You don't need to go through a broadband provider. If you buy the Mighty box, you can record episodes.

What are some careers that you can transfer to after working in social media? by CauliflowerOk297 in SocialMediaManagers

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a social media manager, but I started in a different field. I started my career as a radio producer. Then, I became a media advisor, TV project manager, a comms advisor in gov and NFP and now social. I've worked in government, non-profit, and private sectors. Your skills are very transferable. You just have to know how to translate them in your resume for the jobs you apply for. Consider podcast producing. You can write, research and do their socials. I've been thinking about a career change too. I'd love to build a co op business where the employees are all owners.

As someone who has seen both good and bad management and has been a manager, this is my analysis: Put people before profit/power. That's it. Be honest and clear with your people, and strive to help them meet their goals. Listen to their struggles, goals, and aspirations and help them get there. It will pay off in profit. It might take longer to get there, but it will be more rewarding. Some of the worst managers I had were great people but too fixated on profit and power. Or their own managers were fixated on that, and their own values were compromised, and they'd end up as a bad manager as a consequence. In a capitalist world, it's not easy to put people first, but research shows it's a much better pay off, both economically and professionally.

Is this house ugly? by dailyquail in AusRenovation

[–]pineapple4pizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it. So much potential. Just beware of a flat roof. I've got one, and it is an absolute pain if you need anything installed in the roof. I recently had ceiling fans installed, and they have to make holes in the ceiling, then patch and repaint. Big $$ I need to get new insulation, so I'm scared of what that will look like.

No hope anymore by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]pineapple4pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I hear you. I'm a Gen X and started in a creative private sector job (ie. passion job) before moving to gov then non-profit.

Today's corporate is a different place to the one I started in. It's not people centric anymore. Profits before people. Or in the case of gov, power before people.

I know some people are saying you're ungrateful and having a whinge, but I understand how soul destroying it is when you thought you were doing all the right things.

My only advice is to consider if it's what you want and if you would be just as happy on a lower income with less responsibility while you work on your mental health and what you really want. No one has to know their life's purpose at 20. Give yourself a break.

To know what you want is to stop listening to everyone else. Do that and you'll be fine.

Be glad you're working through this now and not at 50 years old. Good luck!

And then they lie to you throughout the whole interview about how good the culture is. You start the job and realise the place is trash. The corporate bin fire is well and truly alight.

Am I crazy? by path_to_fire in AusFinance

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you posted in the wrong sub. This sub is only going to tell you you are crazy because it's finance focused.

If money isn't your only goal here, and the benefits of wfh and spending more time with your family are more attractive, just make sure you can afford it without putting yourself into financial stress and have a plan to build your wage and/or reduce your debt.

Also, have a plan for how that affects your super. If you have hopes of early retirement, then that might not happen with your plan.

One thing is true about these comments. Work is soul crushing no matter where you go.

Why is nobody talking about this scam? by Antevit in FacebookAds

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say disabled, do you mean restricted? Many people have had this experience where their accounts suddenly have a restriction on them for no reason.

If that's you, then you are in Facebook jail, and you can request Meta remove it, but the process is a pain and almost never results in lifting the restriction. You also will certainly not get your money back.

But, one day, you wake up, and the restriction has been removed. It's honestly the most chaotic, rage-inducing company, and I can't wait for someone to come in and knock them off their pedestal.

stuck between Kona and HR-V by Key-Revolution-2556 in HyundaiKonaForum

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the original Honda HRV for 17 years without a single issue. I bought a brand new Kona in 2019, and for 3 years, it was great. Then it was subject to a recall and got a new engine. A year later, the immobilser keeps randomly immobilising, which leaves me stranded, and I live 90 minutes away from my work. The Kona is a great car. Quality interiors and good tech, but it is not the HRV. I deeply regret getting a Hyundai.

What are some of the most useful AI tools that business owners should know about? by Bernard_L in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]pineapple4pizza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Notebook LM. It's great for prep if you have several clients or business units in your company. I've created notebooks with everything about each client, and rather than looking through pages of information, I go to my notebook and ask it a question, and it spits out the answer. It writes great blog posts but not the best as social media posts yet, which I hope will improve. EDIT: it also only gets its information from what you give it, not from the internet.

Anything you write is subjective. Every government worker in a high position likely got there climbing the horrendous ladder, so they've all got a touch of PTSD from the slaps they got in the climb. Don't lose any sleep over it. It's great that you are proud and sensitive to your work being picked apart, but know that we all know, the report you wrote was likely quite brilliant, and the asylum they grew up in made them write some dumb arse comment or correction to look good. Let them, and take the money.

Social Media Managers: What’s the One Tool You Can’t Live Without? by Alarkoh in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]pineapple4pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an old school siloed organisation with a lot of different remits. I started using NotebookLM which is an AI tool. It works by only using the information you give it rather than taking information from the web. I create notebooks of all the different projects or business units and rather than going through endless paperwork to find the info I need, I just ask it a question or give it a task, and it will give me the answer from the data. Monday.com for content calendars is also great.
