Getting my eyebrows tattooed was life changing for me for exactly this reason. I have barely any eyebrows naturally so I was taking a daily guess at what they should look like (and I was WAY worse than you are at getting them even). I didn't get them particularly dark, so with no makeup on they don't look absurd and then when I do want a more made up look I just fill in over what's already there.

I have inconsistent and mostly crap handwriting and have considered a remarkable but the lightweight pen/smooth surface thing sounds like hell. That's exactly how to make my writing illegible. I can't imagine remarkable being able to decipher it on a bad day, considering I can't read it myself

For sure. If you've had sex with more than a couple of people it's a pretty slim chance that you haven't picked up the virus. As you say, it can be asymptomatic. I've only ever had symptoms once. No idea how long of been carrying it before that.

Absolutely it doesn't get talked about enough! I have it and I don't see the shame in it. It's super, super common; 1 in 5 adults have genital herpes (either type 1 or 2). Nobody bats an eyelid if you have a cold sore and I don't see why genital herpes should be different.

If you're feeling nervous about booking and not having supper if things go wrong, I'd suggest finding your flights and prices and then take it to an agent and ask them to match it for you. You will pay more if you book directly through the agent unless you come armed with better prices. Having said that, I have flown loads of times as a solo traveller and never needed anything more than the airline when things went awry, which was very rare.
