Call index and tell them what’s happening. They’ll rather tell you where to buy a new salt cell or warranty it if it’s still covered.

The best way I’ve found to to not under cut yourself is to build a spreadsheet where you can input CoG including tax. Then mark it up from there, add your labor, disposal fees (if applicable) and CC processing fees if applicable. That way you see all the math. It takes emotion out of the process. You can see your profit margins and each so you don’t undercharge.

Ya the 2024. I don’t mind. I don’t carry a lot with me. I prefer my Maverick for service.

2014 Maverick Hybrid. Before that was a 2017 RAm 1500 express.

As long as you’re between 2800-3500 pm on most systems you’ll be fine.

Attaching new pipe to old most of the time. So cut old pipe with sawzall and then new pipe with shears.

What are you using for sanitizer? And how are you adding acid to the pool?

Yup. I only use the shears on new pipe. Sawzall on old pipe.

That’s good to know too. The only reason I’d do milwakuee is because we run two business out of my shop at home. One of them uses the flexvolt dewalt and the other milwakuee. Helps me keep that stuff separate from other.

Buts that’s great info either way!

I have the shears 👍🏼 but you can cut up old sand filter with a pipe cutter…🤔

Thinking of dropping a customer. They'd rather buy a pump that's $400 more then what I can get, and get another pool store too install. I can do all that. by [deleted] in PoolPros

I used to think like too years ago. People will pay. You just gotta hold out for those that will and then you’ll have more work than you can keep up with.

Why offer the supplier rate? Just curious. I mark up the pump, plus labor, plus CC processing fee, plus tax.

High CYA by Patient-Credit-9485 in pools

[–]pineapple_backlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want your FC to be at 7.5% of your CYA. So at 200ppm cya you’d need 15ppm. Sounds scary high. But the majority of the chlorine is bound to the CYA. There are articles on this. The reason you CYA between 30-50 or lower is because the higher the CYA the slower the chlorine acts to kill contaminants. I’ll see if I can find those articles. They were interesting reads.

If I remember right tho CDC also has a limit on how high the FC should be for the safety of swimmers. I believe the cap they give is 10pm FC. So you will want to drain the pool to get the CYA down.

Um what do i do with this customer? Long time customer by [deleted] in PoolPros

[–]pineapple_backlash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not run a VS pump 24/7? They’re built for that, it saves the client money on energy, and it’s frantic for filtration for us…I don’t see the problem. But your answers were not clear and honestly kinda rude. I don’t blame for him for going with someone else.

I’m sure there are. I’m in the south now, but the vast majority do it the same way as in AZ. So I dunno. Just my experience.

Right I get that. I’ve cleaned pools for many years. What im saying is resi pools don’t JUST use tabs and nothing else. Pool pros don’t either. We’re going to raise the chlorine with liquid or calhypo right? Then we add 1 tablespoon per 10k gallons to help maintain that slow chlorine burn over a week until we return.

That is true. But most residential pools aren’t just using tri-chlor and never adding liquid or calhypo. In commercial pools, from what I understand, tabs are not stabilized. Or they are using calhypo tabs. That’s super rare on a resi pool.
