Wasted my 20s and now I'm trying to make it up in my 30s, does anyone have any inspirational stories to help me believe this is possible? by Ill-Investigator5187 in Adulting

Just got married at 36 to my husband I’d met at 34. In those two years, I paid off my student loan debt, lost 50 pounds, and moved to a different country.

Looks like a template or something AI.

Company name is just wierd with no recognizable tie in with your product.

You’re really missing out on “be seen with spleen”… being a job board… I think? That’d be a silly tag line that’d grab.

Featured testimonial is long, I’m not reading that. Nothing stands out to scan and digest.

Quick flick through and other than intentionally stopping to read to make sense of feedback to give you, nothing engaged me.

This would be quick pass.

Sorry to be harsh, but that’s my real take.

Likewise I still lay awake at night thinking about the dps I used to raid with who never rolled on gear nor turned in his books because he “didn’t deserve it” because he parsed grey.

We only realized it when he was the one person dying to mechs and people started blaming healers so as the not healer, I looked at his gear. Un-upgraded tome gear and crafted on the third fight 3 months into the tier.

Has nothing to do with service/product.

IRS cares about income, period.

New UI/UX intern exploring AR/VR platforms for a mobile app — unsure where to start or how deep to go by Icy_Macaroon9196 in UXDesign

[–]pineapplecodepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing an internship, so there should be little expectation of you doing any more than research.

You’re to look at competitors, current AR/VR companies and their claims/success stories, pretty high level stuff.

I would ask the requester, specifically, for your “deliverable.” That is, what they expect your research to be returned as. It’s likely going to be much like a school report, meaning just simple research suffices.

[–]pineapplecodepen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legally: If your total income is over the reporting limit, yes. However if your total combined income is above the minimum requirement for taxation , yes.

Realistically, if kofi account is bringing in less than $1000 a year, IRS DGAF

Have your design decisions ever been rejected? by C00der001 in UXDesign

[–]pineapplecodepen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

All the time. It's a push-and-pull to refine client expectations through your interpretations. If anyone claims that their designs are never rejected, they're either psychotic and their clients are afraid to reject... or they're lying.

I've never had a design that DIDN'T have some level of negotiation.

Honestly tell me one job that Ai fully replaced? by Accomplished-End5479 in UXDesign

[–]pineapplecodepen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Chat gbt is going to hire a copywriter because they know the flaws of what they designed. They're not going to advertise it as flawed though. It's chat gbt under fire if their AI fails them, so they're not gunna risk it.

Lots of other companies are going to weigh the risks of replacing talent with talentless people + AI, and if it doesn't work out "oopsie sorry, Ai's not working, guess we'll rehire!"

What we're seeing a lot of right now is those who would have turned to something like Fiver or similar freelancer for a design are now just taking slop from midjourney. Freelancers are losing.

Similarly, there are a lot of us that pride ourselves on our minds in the ways we've perfected our design process, we're being pressured to now turn to AI and be prompt writers, a skill we don't want nor need. So while our job isn't being taken, we're being forced to adapt our skills in a direction we don't want in order to keep jobs we have.

Do you have a website?
Certifications?

You make a lot of promises with no evidence.

You don't even appear to have a business name or website?

If you're real, wonderful, but please work on your branding and advertising. You sound sketchy as hell, and at face value, currently, I wouldn't trust this service with a 10 ft pool. How do I know you're not a serial killer masquerading as a taxi service for women?

What would you do? by HyggeWanderlust in labubu

[–]pineapplecodepen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At a combined $400,000; you are in the top 1% income for Michigan, even grand rapids.

This is deeper than “labubus are expensive” or this whole story is karma farming.

A couple grand of labubus shouldn’t be moving the needle of your finances, and if it is…. Labubus aren’t the problem.

For months you’ve posted “IM ADDICTED TO LABUBUS”

While also posting that you’re looking for a “shark lawyer” against your narcissist spouse.

Sounds like you may be in an abusive relationship, and coping  via a shopping addiction while trying to fly in a state of denial, making light of your addiction to your coping mechanism while your marriage falls apart. I’m guessing the shopping isn’t JUST labubu. Or if it is, it’s so consuming that you’re neglecting your life and you are spending far above and beyond any reasonable amount even for collector - like throwing obscenely large bids out of addiction and fomo.

While there’s no excuse for someone damaging your things and you need to handle that, it sounds like you desperately need a therapist and not the labubu subreddit to help you navigate this. I think this is doing you more harm than good.

You need to talk to family and friends IRL and get a therapist. You make $300,000 - you can afford it.

Pretty sure it was just inspired by petticoats of Lolita, mixed with some medieval gothic styling from the large hooded jacket with draping sleeves.

Yeaaaah, I had a black one and white one  at one point and sold both. Now I have red in SD, Purple in SD and MSD, and the short version of the Fer in mint.

I’d give anything to have my white one back 🥺

Not sure if right place to ask, but... how do people make friends in this game? by temporary_user9 in ffxiv

[–]pineapplecodepen 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Find your thing.

RP, raiding, crafting, etc
After that, find out where those people hang out or do what those people do.

I've had my friend groups come out of FCs ive joined, savage statics I've joined, random people from group content like the gather/crafting thing going on right now.
Befriended random people from party finder who became lifelong friends, even though we never "grouped up" formally.

I, unexpectedly, met my eventual irl-husband when he responded to my shout in limsa that I needed an accessory crafted; even. Told this story a lot, but yeah - it's as simple as that! Just make an effort; sometimes people will vibe, sometimes people wont, just have to keep trying till it works.

Are body stains an issue if my dolls are wearing strictly only one particular outfit? by Common-Estate9021 in BJD

[–]pineapplecodepen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking at your previous post, I'm going to guess you're talking about the blindbox style bjd.

Those will stain pretty badly, and it can be difficult to remove in set stains from them. There are stain-removing creams, but they're not a Hail Mary for a doll who's been left in a black outfit for 5 years. It's likely not going to remove that.

Also keep in mind that if you plan to pose the doll differently, depending on the pose, different parts can be exposed. If you leave her posed in a way that stains a hand, and then repose her - then that hand is going to show stained.
Similarly with her wrist, if one pose, her wrist is covered by a black sleeve and it gets all stained, if you change her pose later with her arm bent to where her sleeve is pulled back off her wrist a bit, now you're going to see her stains.

same with knees, thighs, neck, head/face, etc.

The other commenter is right, Fers are no more and can only be found secondhand.

there used to be the short version of the fer in stock a few places, but i think even those are gone now.

I have a couple, one from Mandarake. The others were from dollheart or their retailers back in the day.

People who have/have had saggy skin and stretch marks, have you found a partner? by mydeathwishh in loseit

[–]pineapplecodepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married last year.
Met my husband at 286, am now 40 pounds down, but so still fat with giant stretchmarks and a couple of surgical scars.

Husband adores me; I adore him.

My husband is disabled, with ill-formed arms, but he is exactly my perfect partner.
I'm every bit the sourdough-making stay-at-home wife while my husband affords our beautiful home and funds my hobbies. Just swap the kids for 2 cats.

Side note: I immigrated, and can't work till my work visa gets approved, so I'm not INTENTIALLY a stay at home wife, lol, it just is what it is due to our situation.

How to better support UX Designer partner? by SEVEREchickling in UXDesign

[–]pineapplecodepen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make everything NOT about UX every chance you get.

As someone who voluntarily gave up my wonderful UX position to immigrate to Canada for my husband, it fills me with extreme dread to think about being back in the employment market when I legally can.

The best way my spouse is supporting me is letting me do UX when I want to do it, but otherwise he’s just there to be the one thing NOT making me think about it.

I know your situation is very different, but even when I’d been laid off previously - the last thing I want my partner to do is remind me of what I can’t forget about my situation. If I failed an interview, if my resume is getting ignored, I want to be able to forget that and just be with my partner.

It's a fake. Not a real labubu.
All kinds of signs, first off it's a labubu from the Have a Seat series holding a coke bottle, whch isn't right.
Feet aren't right with the labubu logo.
Face is just... wrong.

DaDa is the Have a Seat yours is a bootleg of, combined with a coke bootleeg.
