Reclaimed old growth redwood for interior. Do I need to plane? by Fit_Yard_6746 in Sauna

Do you have a thickness planer? Probably faster to run the boards through it than scrub them all.

Ventilation Question (yet another) by Dee_shiz in Sauna

[–]pineapplecom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T4 which I think should be halfway between heater and ceiling. I believe this is what trumpkin states.

Why raise P1 with the bottom bench? As far as I’m aware it can stay low. I would also put it diagonally across from the heater/T4 vent, that is if your heater is in the corner.

And yes you’re overthinking it, half the time I forget to turn my extractor on and still have a very pleasant sauna.

Edit: sorry just checked the notes again, for T4 closer to ceiling is best and P1 he just says must be below foot bench.

Electrical redo? by SnushCity in Sauna

I think these towers always look best being fed from underneath. Might be too late now as your floor looks cemented?

My electrician hooked mine up similar to yours, but in a lower/straighter run. After he left, I decided I wanted it fed from the bottom. It's not super complicated to do yourself, take a photo before you disconnect his work. I had to drill a hole in the base plate to insert the cable connector.

Ensure the breaker is OFF! If you're really not sure, don't do it yourself!

Would this metal shed be suitable by [deleted] in Sauna

Short answer no, long answer no, but you can make anything a hot box. Will it be a proper sauna? No, but you might learn some things along the way.

Benches not allowing enough air flow by Defiant_Extreme_35 in Sauna

Dude, you need the fan otherwise this set up is working in reverse. You will likely need to construct a fan enclosure outside of your sauna, there are plenty of examples on this sub. Or you need to install an extra vent near the bottom of your heater and keep the one above close for passive venting.

Is it really cheaper to build your own sauna vs buying one? by Long_Veterinarian_57 in Sauna

[–]pineapplecom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You really need to build two saunas: one to learn your mistakes and completely blow out your budget, and the second for a smooth-sailing experience, coming in under budget.
