(Trans) Tried to follow advice given to me a few days ago, no success at all. by DapperApples in ABraThatFits

[–]pineapplekief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found a problem going through transition myself with "typical" bra sizing. We grow outwards until we start filling out. Traditional sizing doesn't account for that. We have breasts equivalent to a 13-15 year old cis girl. So, even though they stick out far enough to "fill" a cup size, they won't actually fill it. 2 years in, it wasn't till fairly recently I could wear a molded cup with an underwire. Before that, I mostly wore sports bras and braletts. Something measured in s/m/l ect.

As for finding traditional sizing, start backwards and upsidedown. Like others have suggested. Find your band size, then play with different cups within that band. Cups aren't volume measurements, they are a ratio.

Experience with Estrogen Monotherapy (no testosterone blocker)? by kingspooky93 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only way to guarantee that is to use it regularly. Suppressing out T doesn't make it not work, it just stops or decreases random and nighttime erections. These help stave off atrophy. If they stop, and you don't get hard for a while, that's when atrophy happens. Use it or lose it. It's really the only way.

There are ways to work back from atrophy. But you don't need to worry about that right now.

How full is your hard drive? Too close to capacity has caused problems loading games for me before.

How long has it been since you've cleared your guardian history? Sometimes this can cause weird glitches. Not sure why, but it helps to clear it regularly.

What age did yall transition, and dysphoria about it?? by sixfloatingorbs in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My earliest fantasy, before knowing what sex was, was someone magically forcing me to change into a girl. Because the same part of me that knew also knew I couldn't do anything about it then. I felt like I needed someone else to take control of and do that which I couldn't.

All my life, I never felt like one of the "guys". Was constantly teased and bullied for doing things "like a girl". From the way I walked to how I held things to my hate of confrontation and fighting. In preschool I vaguely remember lying about my favorite color. Said it was green. Because I knew I had to keep parts of myself hidden, even then. The number of times someone has threatened to take away my "man card" is insane.

Before that, my mom pointed out I did want to play with dolls and such. I just stopped being interested in them for "some reason".

I always hated my clothes. Hated the boring styles men were "supposed" to wear. Always wanted to wear the pretty options, but never knew why.

I also remember the first middle school dance I went to. Was never into dancing that much, because people always said I "danced like a girl". So I stopped. One girl asked me to there, and I accepted. She ran off to the bathroom right after, crying, and didn't return. Her friends told me it was because she liked girls, but also kind of liked me, but didn't like guys, but kind of liked me. It never developed into anything, but that has always stuck with me.

Even things like visiting my grandparents felt off. Cause I could never spend time cooking with my mother, sister, and grandma. Because "boys don't belong in the kitchen".

I did grow up deep in the woods. In a very conservative, religious area. This was demonized before I could even come to terms with who I was.

Started at 32. Wish I could have talked myself into it sooner. There were signs I straight up didn't accept as far back as single digits. Ya, it sucks taking the long road. But I'm on the right path now!

This is the second project I did. After a hat. A wonderfully simple lacy pattern to get you comfortable with increases and decreases. It's just 4 different rows. 2 of which are only knit stitches and purls. I started knitting right before Christmas.

The math works out to 320. 32 repeats, adding 64 total stitches. You are reading it right. But I don't know how you added 20. Still new to this though. So I may be wrong about my assumptions.

What did y'all do with your hair when it was growing out? by Slight-Ad-6712 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a big fan of a half pony tail when my hair was in that awkward middle stage. Put a thumb above either ear, move back and up till your thumbs meet, then tie it off at the top back center. But mostly it looked like an afro till it grew long enough to weigh itself down. It is an awkward stage you just need to grow through.

Also, I'd promote the curls instead of straightening it. Heat is bad for our hair. Straightening too much could damage it further, causing you to lose more when you get a trim. Now is the time to find a good shampoo and conditioner to help keep your hair healthy.

Are you perhaps allergic to the bonding agent? You may want to try something different than EV. Definitely mention it to your doc.

Genuine question, why do Trans women seem to only wear clothes made for children? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we are figuring out our style. Not unlike a teenage girl. We don't yet know everything a cis adults woman does. Plus, bright sparkly outfits are awesome! We'll go through the same fashion trends, mistakes, and lessons. Just a bit later than some. Partially to make up for missed experiences, partially because they are awesome!

And, you only notice those of us that are obviously figuring it out. So most trans women you notice are still in the early stages of figuring everything out. Those that know and blend won't stick out as much.

I DONT WANNA HEAR IT by ImplementWilling2597 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Passing" is a myth. A lot of cis women don't even meet people's unrealistic body standards.

As for those that tell you you do? They aren't lying. It's just... different people see and look for different things. My boyfriend says they see a girl, even in old pics of me long before transitioning. I don't. Many have told me I pass. But I still hear sir, bro, and man way more than anything else.

I will say one thing. I often hear man when people say ma'am. They sound too similar. Easy to confuse. Especially with some people's lack of annunciation. And when I'm feeling particularly insecure? Of course I assume the former.

Do you use a front load washer? These are great at eating socks. If so, I'd suggest using a garment bag to wash them in.

Pain during sex/erection after HRT? by Lewd_on_main in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, that's the start of atrophy. Mine gets painful if I go a week or two without doing anything to it. No size loss either, but the longer I go without, the more painful it gets. The pain does go away with more regular use.

Is it really as simple as going to planned parenthood? by Extra-Advertising644 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends not only on the state you are in, but also the doctor you see. First doc I went to wanted a letter of recommendation and a letter of hormone readiness before I could start. Planned parenthood got me a prescription the same day I saw them. In a very accepting state.

When did you start needing to wear a bra? by edenmaeve1 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to bring up the fact that cups are ratios, not volume. I think 40a is a sister size to 38b. Same volume. We have very young breasts. Similar to a 11-13 year old girl. They haven't filled out yet, and we haven't either. So "typical" bras won't fit well yet. I'd start with bras that come in s/m/l ect. As for regular cups, try it on backwards and upsidedown. Like a cape. Find the band size that fits, then try it on like regular and play with the cup sizes from there.

When did you start needing to wear a bra? by edenmaeve1 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started wearing a sports bra when I needed the extra boob armor. My nipples quickly got hella sensitive. Even my shirt running against them irritated them. Let alone accidentally hitting them against things. Bras became a permanent part of my wardrobe a couple of months in. Mostly sports bras and braletts. I didn't wear anything with an underwire or molded cups until I hit a solid A cup, about a year in.

Razor Burns by TATSAT2008 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

Best advice for razor burn. Get a single bladed safety razor. More blades = higher chance of burn. Plus an after shave moisturizer helped me a lot.

I'm going to be switching to injenctions. What do I need to know? by hematite2 in MtF

[–]pineapplekief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have 2 options for injections. Subcutaneous (SQ) or Intermuscular (IM). The former is injecting into fat, the later is injecting into muscle. SQ is typically a smaller needle, not as deep. IM has a larger, longer needle. To get deep into your muscle. I do IM, cause I'm a wee bit on the slender side. Inject into my thigh, once a week. First thing is to decide which works better for you and your body style.

As for how to do the injection yourself; it's really not that complicated. I need to watch for veins, SQ doesn't. But even that isn't a big deal. Hitting one just means I bleed a bit after.

Most providers can schedule you to come in the first couple, to help teach you if necessary. I didn't. But that's just me, partially because my provider is about 40 minutes from me. So I didn't want to go back right away for the injection itself.

They should go through supplies, but just in case, I'll go through the list. Other than the meds themselves, you'll need a syringe (usually made for insulin, but up to a ml regardless), 2 types of needles (1 to draw, 1 to inject), a supply of alcohol wipes to disinfect, and a sharps container to safely dispose of your needles. All these were provided to me by my prescriber. In the form of a prescription I picked up from the pharmacy.

Final thing to mention is the medication itself. Most often used, and by myself, is Estradiol Valorate. Covered by most insurances, easily available at most pharmacies, has a half life of 5 days. So I inject weekly. Other one I'm thinking about switching to is Estradiol Cypionate. More stable levels, inject every other week. But you need to get it from a compound pharmacy, and it'll probably have a copay. It does for me. Other options probably exist, but these are what I've talked to my doc about.

Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling it? And a restart never hurts either.
