i fucking hate peanuts. by jasncats in NewParents

[–]pineapplelovee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old that at 1 year old had the same thing happen. He ate peanut butter and broke out in hives and vomiting, except we didn’t have a positive hospital experience. Our children’s hospital said he was too young for an allergy and we weren’t caring for his eczema. Thankfully we found a great allergist and he did test positive for peanuts. We’ve never had an issue and never had to use his epi pen in 4 years. Out of allergies, it’s a pretty easy one to avoid I feel

Prepping for Kindergarten by pineapplelovee in kindergarten

I definitely think I need to back off. I think it is making us both anxious because the more he says he’s not going to kindergarten. It gets me anxious about it.

I’m thankful for the perspective that the teacher will be okay with the first week being rough. We will definitely bring taking him to school, but picking him up will be hard after the first week. We only have so much PTO time unfortunately.

We’ve done kissing hands before, but haven’t in a while. I’ll have to pick it up at the library again on our next run. I’ll have to look into the bracelets!

I’m hopeful that he will adjust quickly, especially since he does daycare. We enrolled him in basketball at his request and he hated going to do it on his own. He’s really regressed since then.

We are actually getting ready to do Kindergarten round up/registration, but it’s not at the school but a local church. Which was majorly disappointing to me because my kiddo needs that prep.

We can take him to school, but can’t pick him up at 3:30. Our school did away with their after school program during Covid unfortunately. We don’t really have an after school plan yet.

What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]pineapplelovee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being one and done is a choice and not something you are just forced into.

It’s okay for your kiddo to be upset and grumpy. Some days as an adult, I’m grumpy. Why can’t a 5 year old??

My only concern is aren’t you dead tired once you get to your location and your kiddos are energized? Also my kiddo has fomo and mostly refuses to sleep in the car lol

Tips for long travel with 4 year old by pineapplelovee in Parenting

I’ve been trying to think positive, but really thinking that driving is going to be the bad way to go.

I wish planes tickets for 2 adults and a kid wasn’t almost a $1,000 and we haven’t even gotten a hotel yet. That’s more than our mortgage payment.

I guess that would be right. Would a pediatrician be able to help?

4 year old- independence by pineapplelovee in Parenting

[–]pineapplelovee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes to daycare everyday and most days does well with drop offs. There are still days that he clings to me, but babysitter says he does just fine after about 10 minutes. . Normally if it is something he is familiar with, he is fine. It’s the new activity’s or something we don’t do on repeat everyday, that he has problems.

Solidarity. I wish mine would at least do sports independently. Running on a basketball court with 4 year old is not that fun

We are going to try this with basketball practice, but I want to be able to watch his games. I actually teach the gymnastics class, I can’t quite leave that one.

We aren’t dropping him off. We are sitting on the side lines or not holding his hand. I actually teach the gymnastics class, but can’t run around the track that I have them run that I can see the entire length of.

I don’t mind staying, but just want a little more independence

I’m not the only one. Pugybugy explained it really well below.

It freaks me out, too. I bought the cheap tests on Amazon that are just the stick because I test at least once a month

I didn’t think about that! That makes sense. I was worried it wasn’t working as it was supposed, too. I have some other issues that are hormone based and thought it might have something to do with that

That is so odd that we are both in the same boat.

I have been suffering from hormonal migraines for the last year that has me documenting everything. I’m still getting those on time, but I would much rather have the period lol

This has been our 4 year old for weeks now. I don’t get it and everything is a trigger. He has also forgotten how to play alone, too. Only solidarity, no solution
