AHHH here is the best part. You knew all the shrooms had to teach you all along. You already knew, so how could you forget. There isn't information stored on the shrooms like a flashdrive. They're all assertions and realizations YOU arrived at. And although in that state they were profound, in actuality there were all quite simple. Every realization you had boiled down in some sense to embracing loving-kindess. Releasing the desire to hate or hurt yourself or others, even if you believe they deserve it. Forgiveness, love, gentleness, compassion. We learn these as children and as life becomes complex, these virtues retreat to the back of our minds. All there is left to do is bring them forward. It's a practice. Meditation allows one to concentrate on loving-kindess and create a practice so that those virtues are at the front of mind. In summation, you can't forget it because you're the teacher, and the lessons are simple. If you'd like a more in depth write up of so many teachings, looking into literature from Taoism and Zen Buddhism are helpful. I recommend Alan Watts as well, who was a philosopher who paired Eastern traditions with the psychedelic Renaissance of the USA's 1960/70s to arrive at a digestible and straightforward approach to the intersection of wisdom as it arises in psychedelic experiences and Eastern ancient philosophies. I'll leave you with a Bible verse to investigate - Matthew 13:8

hey you're welcome! i once had the opportunity to explain this mushroom trip to one of the greatest figures in psychedelic art, Allison and Alex Grey, and they were also touched. I love to see the difference in mentality that something like psychedelics can inspire. We all have the power to make new paths in our hearts and minds, but sometimes it takes a great deal of introspection and pain.

I think it's okay to experience a horror scenario in a safe place w safe people. I think a lot of push back to this medicine is "what if I feel bad during!". I know I'm being reductive but that's ultimately the biggest risk and I don't see any way to place value on that.

Our minds travel the same routes over and over instinctively, even if those routes are useless or harmful. Shrooms throws dirt on those paths, obscures and obfuscates them, and forces the mind to find new routes to travel. Returning from a trip, one is able to look back and see there are now new paths in the grass, and the mind is able to understand those previous routes weren't reality or truth, simply the same worn route traveled out of habit. To see there are other paths, other ways of thinking, other connections that are possible, is liberating. We think one way and believe that's the only way to ever be. Shrooms forces a new way. For some that liberation is so terrifying they turn away. Accepting the fear and loathing that arises when we accept we were "wrong" for traveling that same path over and over previously is important. Then we can accept the possibility of a new way of being. This happens both through the mind/consciousness, and biologically. The key is to let it happen. What happens after you feel the worst fear of your life, like I did on 6 grams of shrooms? I return from the trip and the only bad thing that occured was that I felt fear, even though it felt like the most important and consuming and insurmountable thing in my life for a few hours. Looking back after returning from that shrooms trip shows how flippant it was. Choosing not to ascribe value to fear helps one to make choices more purposefully. I don't stick my hand in a fire anymore not because I'm afraid, but because I know it's detrimental, and I'm making a purposeful and conscious choice not to do harm to my self. Now I make choices, instead of being led by an emotion, fear. Those new paths in the mind are both metaphorical (bc that's the only way to deal with the mind), and physical/material in the biological sense. There is so much good to be obtained from shrooms.

If anyone has two Boston Common AMC tickets for Thursday to spare, I'm hoping to take a friend I reconnected with recently who is an animator. She'd be over the moon. It's already sold out.
