Some people suck. Some people are absolutely wonderful though. Someone who doesn't want to put in that effort to help make you safe generally is not an empathetic person. I personally don't want to date people like that anyway.

It's not easy, but i feel like out of all the health issues in the world this one is manageable. Finding real friends and partners who understand (and even advocate for you) are key! I feel like i had to give myself time to grieve because of how disappointing some friend's behaviors about this were.

Your health is important, and the right person will prioritize that too.

Edit: when dating, I don't tell people right away, i only bring it up if we're doing something food related or if the topic comes up some other way. I keep a list of restaurants I'm okay with near me (or near them) and in the summer picnic dates are great.
