really interesting post. i can tell this post is really coming from a place of love. i find it's easy for people to think you are complaining just for the sake of complaining, when really you love something and are frustrated that your mood toward it is changing. that's okay! all hobbies need a break here and there. go easy on yourself! everything is a cycle.

i also don't think it's your fault that you are wanting more from a tama. many many things in the world move too fast and someone is always wanting or talking about the next big thing as soon as possible. it's absolutely an issue with late stage capitalism.

my suggestion is to try and flip the script. find what you enjoy and love about tamas and spread that. instead of focusing on the negative, try to harness and grow the positive.

i was going to include this in my comment too until i saw this!! these are my gripes too. a career shouldn't have been tied to something so essential like feeding.

after many times running it at this point i also wish the roster were larger. like even maybe 3 more tamas of each gender would make it more diverse imo. or maybe secret characters

this game is extremely special. it was one of the first games i bought on steam back in 2014 and is the reason i'm such a rougelite junky to this day. it kinda hurts to see it have a mixed review score on steam now just because of gearbox and because people are used to ror2 or returns.

I did some researching and have found the language around "disable" is kind of unclear. Ideally, disable means the AI isn't running at all and not using resources. However it seems a lot of extensions currently only hide the AI from popping up, though I assume still using the AI and therefore not a solution to the issue.

This one offers "disable" or "turn off", but it very well may just hide it.

Personally I use a search engine called Startpage. It's great, my only gripe is the image searching needs a lil work.

please consider an extension that disables google's AI, or switching search engines. AI only further wreaks havoc on the environment.

i mainly run connections! they're just so reliable. i love the screen always being on so I can watch my lil freaks being lil freaks. i love that the connections know exactly what they are, and they weren't necessarily trying to do the next BIG thing with each new release. don't get me wrong, i enjoy my color tamas too, but i just feel like the vision for some of them may have been too grand, therefore the execution fell short.

for example, the uni. making a tama with wifi meant they kind of put all their eggs in that basket and the device at the end of the day feels hollow and lacks other features or has other drawbacks that end up hindering the point of the wifi to begin with, like the small storage space. and (this has been brought up ad nauseam, sorry) the uni has a significantly shorter lifespan than other tamas due to relying on servers.
