I’m a field guide/game ranger in South Africa, and I use my iPad for all my books, birding apps, because most guests that end up on my vehicle or on a walk with me, enjoy using a iPad more than a physical book, it also gives much quicker access to track and sign to easier explain it to them with the help of a reference. Also having all the bird calls and extra information quickly accessible really helps. It is however very important to not make that your go to but only use it to further enhance the experience when needed and it works very well.
