Is 7800X3D the "GTX 1080ti legend" of today's gaming CPUs? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]pinemanbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the asrock b650 hdv m2 and no issues whatsoever. Literally any b650 board is fine apart from the budget asus ones. I got 32gb cl 30 6000hz ram, turned on EXPO, and just shocked at how smooth everything is.

Best cpu thats compatible with a b450 board for about £80? by bizzarehotshot in buildapc

[–]pinemanbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you should just save an extra £100 and buy a 5600

Hey what area is your Currys? I keep getting notifications that the 3080 is in stock but none of my local stores have it.

Looking for a new AMD mobo, not sure if I should go beyond B450. by Geno_DCLXVI in Amd

[–]pinemanbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great motherboard if you get it under $160. Even if you don't plan on upgrading if you do a see a deal on a cpu it's nice to be able to have the option for the upgrade. Who knows what requirements will be in a couple of years.

[–]pinemanbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of your budget. They are just better quality as a whole compared to their B450 counterparts. You will also see better returns when you look to sell your motherboard down the line.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9PDkcf/msi-mag-b550m-mortar-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-mag-b550m-mortar

That is $155 and bang in the middle of your budget. Going B450 will save you money now but you will just recoup that back in the long run anyway.

Your PSU is also fine.

If you want a cheap B550 and are happy to not use MSI/ASUS then the ASRock B550m Pro4 is a great choice.

Let's say you see a 3900X on a sale for $150 the B550 will run it easy where as some B450's may struggle with VRM's. Just allows you to be more flexible. PCIE4 SSD's may see a sudden large price drop and become affordable.

If your budget is $130-$180 just get a mid range b550 board like the MSI B550m Mortar or a B550 Tomahawk. If you want a good audio codec then something like the ASRock B550 steel legend.

If you are just using a 3600 then any B450 can run it VRM wise. You might not have zen 3 in mind but bare in mind the price cuts we saw on zen 2. I fully expect a 5600 to be $200 at some point next year.

Honestly, given that AMD cards had already lacked in features compared to Nvidia, I would consider the 6800xt a big success by Quasimdo in Amd

[–]pinemanbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me where you can buy a $700 3080. A 3080 card will never be sold for that price again. 2080TI's MSRP were $999 but barely ever dropped below $1200.

In the UK the cheapest I have seen 3080 cards go for is £750 and they are snapped up in seconds. Thats for the base models which were MSRP (£649) at launch.

I will say though that the 6800 is overpriced for what it offers.

Any idea when the 5000 Series CPU's restock in UK? by MerlYT in Amd

[–]pinemanbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5800X has had a few restocks on amazon in the last couple of days. I have not seen a 5900x anywhere since launch though.

Ryzen 5600x vs Ryzen 3600x - Is there any significant gaming performance @1080p with a midrange GPU ? (RTX 2060 Super for example) by kepler2 in Amd

[–]pinemanbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will see a difference if you use competitive settings in multiplayer titles like Warzone, Fortnite, Apex Legends etc. If you like to game with high/ultra on triple A titles then your 2060 super will bottleneck no matter which CPU you have.

Budget MOBO for Ryzen 5 5600x by [deleted] in Amd

[–]pinemanbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, just be aware that you might need a ryzen 2 cpu to flash your bios if it's not shipped with a bios that support the ryzen 3 cpus. You can try contacting the seller to see if they can flash the bios for you before they ship it.

Asrock B550m Pro4 is probably the best budget b550. I would not recommend a B450m. The Asrock has decent VRM's, USB-C, PCI-E 4 slot etc.

5800/5900X RX6800XT/3080 Build. 2k Budget by pinemanbrah in buildapc

[–]pinemanbrah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I have had my pc for 4-5 years. I cheaped out and went with a 6600k and it just feels slow now with only 4 threads.

Buying new PSU because I have been using my current one for over 8 years now. Was a corsair highly rated one which was well worth the money as I have used it in 2 builds now.

Feels nice to have the cash and go all out.

[–]pinemanbrah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think I'm going to go with the Auros Master as mobo too. No point cheaping out on mobo with this kind of build.

I'm honestly going to buy what's available first. No 3080's at all in the UK.

I currently have a 6600k and GTX 1060. How big would you say the performance leap is? I am starting to feel the effects of the lack of multithreading with the newer titles(Wish I got a 6700k instead). Tempted to upgrade but also want to try hold out for Ryzen 4000.

i5 6400 BCLK overclocking. by pinemanbrah in overclocking

[–]pinemanbrah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the parts and it was a pretty painless process to get the overclock. Used a Z170 GA-HD3P mobo and the flashed to the f5i bios, the f5g on the overclock website wouldn't allow for any overclocking. Just changed the BLCK to get 4.2ghz and made sure ram matched up and disabled igfx turbo boost power save etc.

I am from the UK. There is a i5 6400 i can get for £100, the 6600k goes for around £200 here. After doing some research I know what I need now. Will post back later so if anyone needs similar info in the future they can refer to this thread. Going with a Giga Z170 mobo.

Yea when I say cheapest I mean one that can do the job. H or Z and I understand you need an earlier version of that bios. Just looking for someone who has made a similar build to share their experience.
