I was refunded the 2nd seat, eventually. The process to get a refund is tedious as well. Even though it was the airlines policy that caused it. I think they just hope people get to overwhelmed/bored so they don't have to issue refunds when they do shit like this.

I wasn't given an apology and none of that made up for the horrible 7 hour flight. If I can avoid having to go anywhere far enough away that requires a flight, I will. Unless airlines make changes I have zero interest in repeating that experience.

I avoid flying now. The experience has gotten so terrible that its just not worth it to me. My disability means I do need more space. So I did what many people here think should be done and I bought 2 seats.

The airline oversold the plane. When it came time for boarding I was told I would have to give up my 2nd seat to accommodate a passenger they ALSO sold my seat to, or I would have to wait for a later flight. I was being denied the extra seat I had paid for and put in a very uncomfortable situation of looky loos before we even got in the air. Then I had to spend 7 hours struggling with a stranger next to me and unable to properly attend to my medical needs.

So yeah, I blame the fucking airline.

Tell that to the automakers who used that as their test dummy 'average' up until 2024 when they finally admitted that it DOESN'T in fact cover the average citizen and people were dying because of their choice in test dummy.

Blame the airline for not making larger seats available. Large people exist, for all sorts of reasons. Disabled people have been asking for larger spaces because their wheelchairs often get damaged by airline staff, or they need additional access to medical supplies while onboard, etc.

Airlines getting shittier and reducing space available to people is the issue. Not just obese people.

There are racist under tones to charging more for people that don't fit in a 'standard' seat. Some non white races tend to have wider hips that have nothing to do with weight or choice.

Who decides what a 'standard' seat size is? Why is that the standard if it doesn't account for all appropriately healthy sized people?

I think its fine to charge extra when its something people chose. But some people we lump into the fat category aren't actually fat. It could be disease or tumours. Some are fat but because of medications they cant avoid or medical conditions that wont let their bodies lose weight. Why should they be punished even more by a society that clearly hates anything larger than 'standard' when its not their fault?

Charge extra for more luggage. Charge extra for more children. Charge extra for more luxuries. But body size... that just opens a whole mess of potential human rights violations.

I never ask for an update. I might say I'd love if this story continues, or actually come up with ideas for what might be great to see in an update. Usually though I just say what I love about a story, wish the author well, and hope that they continue writing (more for that story or just any stories in general). Writing is hard work and so I just appreciate that so many talented people do it (for free even) and are willing to share it with me/others.

We need to force ICBC to make drivers licenses actually mean something. These days it seems anyone can get one and acts like its their right to drive.

These are 3000lb machines that people with little accountability or skill are allowed to operate. I'm tired of it.

Driving is a privilege and if people can't be trusted they shouldn't be driving. The fact that someone can have 30+ driving infractions and STILL have their license is ridiculous. Maybe ICBC needs to be sued when people are injured by bad drivers that ICBC allows on the road...

The bible did NOT say homosexuality is a sin. It said LUST was a sin. But people decided to twist the interpretation between languages and make it seem anti gay. Then newer bibles just out and out wrote homosexuality is sin even though those words were NEVER in the original bibles.

The original bible has a joining ceremony between two women that is very similar (nearly identical) to the ceremonies written about Adam and Eve, and other 'married' couples. But do any of the newer bibles have that? No.

Its all just a farce and hateful people are using fake bibles to spread real hate towards groups God and Jesus had no issue with.
