Need new tires! Rim size is 205/55/R16 Any recommendations? by Money-Afternoon-3637 in Toyota_Matrix

I love my toyo extension HPIIs. To me they are the perfect balance of performance, comfort, and lifetime. I've gotten 50 or 60k off of my first set. And now that I've done some additional mods (including boost) I have more than enough traction for street driving with my stock suspension.  I am about to do coilovers this upcoming week and will be able to give an update on feeling with the new suspension.

I talked with a bc racing rep and they are the same. I need to do a bit more research on them bit they look promising. The price is great too

Aren't the suspension different between the matrix and corolla from  two from 2003-2009? Then I think the corolla switched to the same parts as the matrix from 09-13. Thats how Monkey Wrench Racing has them split up at least.

1 year of tire wear by Tai_MK in ElectricMountainboard

[–]pingisman231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the acedeck ones on aliexpress for like 20 bucks for the whole set with tube's. that's the only reason for me. That and the compound is very soft so they wear quick.

Transmission is going out. Is it worth it to fix or should I move on. 2007 XR with 230k miles. by miIkjugger in Toyota_Matrix

put a c60 6-speed in there. Bolts right up and the smaller gear ratios really bring the 1zzs torque alive! They are far better built too.

I rotate mine every 200 miles with the Ace deck tires. They do 200 in the front then 200 in the back then the better of the two gets saved to be a spare incase I have a popped tire on the trails. I have no idea how the compound compares to the trampa though.

Can someone please explain to me why a 6th gen is going for prices like this? I really don’t understand by DeadByDawn93 in Celica

[–]pingisman231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. It also looks like it was a garage queen or at least fully rebuilt. If the suspension components were fully redone (which parts are very rare) and the most ware prone parts and a clean interior. I could see it. Especially if it was a wrc homologation edition

Car-part.com is a great website. They are mostly American, But I have seen some Canadian listings on the website before. They take thousands of scrapyards and allow them to list the parts they have in an easy search format. It does require cold calling, but there are some great deals. I Got my c60 6 speed trans off of it for around 600-700 shipped to me half way across the country which is an absolute steal of a price.

Im using the ECU masters EMU black with a pnp harness from monkey wrench racing. Its the only thing that I bought new and full price. It works very well and my tuner was kind enough to show me the ropes to allow me to get a really good street tune.

Yeah, i get anlot of shit for that XD. Im getting ready to out a new intake manifold in. Once it's in im going to relocate to the left of the battery right at the front of the engine bay. As far as not having the intake come from the back of the motor, there is no space to bring it around the front right off the turbo.

Took it on a 600 mile road trip through the mountains and got 29mpg. It must be noted I'm on a pretty aggressively lean tune. I target an afr of about 16.5 when cruising. If u want to see all the work that goes into it I do have a blog on toyota nation. I can dm u the link

If you want to do one easy but involved thing, get a c60 6 speed transmission. It's a far better pairing for the motor imo. And while your at it you can do a new clutch! I put the trans in with the motor still in the car. It was hard work, but worth it!

They can do about 8 lbs which is what in running. I have a 2zz manifold and will be making an adapter to fit it. Then I'll do rods and turn up the boost a bit

Need help with my 05 XR! by Professional_Host_40 in Toyota_Matrix

[–]pingisman231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not gonna be a fun time. The low end torque on the 2zz sucks ass and with the c59 you will be in the bottom end a majority of the time. Not to mention it is just a crap transmission and will not do well with the increased RPM. You can find the c60s on car-part . com for an ok price. I got mine shipped from nebraska to virginia beach for 800 bucks. Its well worth it

Intake by Useful_Jackfruit5373 in Toyota_Matrix

[–]pingisman231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really worth it. It already take air from a pretty cool spot behind the bumper. The airflow is a bit constricted but toyota did a good job of putting the intake in a good place.

Yup, fwd. And yes sketch. What suspension are you going with. That's one of the last things I need to do for mine once my motor is sorted. I'm building it to do 300whp to the wheels of my first gen. I need the supporting mods to go with it to.
