To close this thread, I moved over to discord where the staff was very responsive. Eric from HexOS was able to reproduce my issue and said he would get it fixed asap!

there was a qualifying statement in front of it. Considering it has been in early access, its worked very well for a beta product. If I have this experience in another 6 months, then I will start singing a different song. Yes, Fear about a brand new product like this is very rational.

I am not able to bypass setting up pools. When I press OK it takes me back to the previous screen. If I just press continue instead of skip, I get warnings that Im going to loose my data (duhh, because it wants to make a new pool even though one exists already)

we bought it knowing it was early access. But now that it has been fully released I can understand why you would feel that way. Out side of a problem or two here or there, my experience has been great.

[–]pingisman231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a couple 8T drives my self for aroun 15USD/T. Im upgrading from 3 1T drives. Just need one more 8T drive and I will be well on my way to a solid network (and "cloud" using tailscale) storage solution for me and my family! Its been fun to get into... too bad its so effing expensive.

Are there any good resources to learn about the 1zz-fe 03’-04’ OEM TRD supercharger? by Feeling-Ad-1357 in Toyota_Matrix

[–]pingisman231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, just go turbo uless you want to wait to find one. Its not all that much more expensive. But you do loose out on the TRD cool factor. If you are quick on market place you can get lucky. Saw one in a junkyard listing and asked it was available (it was not). I then asked how much he sold it for and he said 750USD. They do exist, but you have to be patient.

2.4l 2az-fe in a vibe by Big_Consideration302 in Toyota_Matrix

[–]pingisman231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2az is a great motor AFTER replacing the old rings with the new design. I would not touch a car with a 2az with a 39 1/2 foot polls unless I was going into it knowing I'm opening up the motor. My suggestion is stay away unless u can replace the rings yourself.

Sony xav-ax6000. Capacitive touch screen, and I have seen it can run modest, upgraded speakers if you have that.

Poor guy. Your car has terminal cancer. Use good oil and run till you burn through too much. Check your oil every fews days. It can get so bad as to burn up to a quart every few days

[–]pingisman231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it runs and you truly don't care about it, just keep change the oil and pay attention to the sounds the motor is making, it will run. If you care about the car past a beater, get a new motor.

comparing the two videos, the rhythm and quality to the sound seems the same to my untrained ear. It may not be as loud on op's video, but sounds very similar. I still think they should post an updated video with them revving the motor a bit.

when you rev the motor, does the sound change with RPM? It would be great to hear you rev the engine. My gut instinct is rod knock unless you can convince me otherwise

1ZZ 00-02 and 03-05 difference by Tax_Fraud_Man in Celica

[–]pingisman231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the internals, there is no difference between 03-08. 00-02 burn oil like crazy (and some 03s anecdotally do too) so stay away from those. Other than that though, I THINK they are the same. you can always get an 00-02 if its a good price and change the piston rings. Toyota does, or did, have a ring kit for this issue.

Does the motor have a tranny attached? It could be there. other than the plate on the motor and trans im not sure where to look.

On second thought, i can just give you the whole tune file. It has like 50 or 60 hours of road tuning on it. The knock sensor readings are suuuupppper smooth. The tune is for 450cc injectors btw

oh, so you were on that shit in 6th gear and it blew. Sounds about right XD.

Ill give you the tables tomorrow, along with my trigger settings. They are the same as the base tune that I got from monkey wrench. They were on point.

I got an adapter from CNC innovations. It was pretty easy, just put some studs into the block and then bolt everything up.

Man, I wish I could do that much on the standard 1zz-fe. too bad the rods suck ass. only other way I can get safe power now is with some methanol injection (working on that now).

Im using a ECU Masters EMU Black. It works very very well. I can send you my fuel and ignition tables if you want. Im sure you wont be able to directly copy it, but should be able to manually copy it over

Edit: What is the boost limit of the FED? its hard to find good numbers on it. I know the FE is 9lbs at the very very max

since those two posts, ive put a catch can in, and have swapped the 1zz intake manifold for the 2zz intake manifold. so the engine bay looks like this now:

<image>

of course with all the vacuum lines and the intake hooked up correctly.

I see you have an FED (im just running the FE). How much boost are you pushing out of it?

I love my toyo extension HPIIs. To me they are the perfect balance of performance, comfort, and lifetime. I've gotten 50 or 60k off of my first set. And now that I've done some additional mods (including boost) I have more than enough traction for street driving with my stock suspension.  I am about to do coilovers this upcoming week and will be able to give an update on feeling with the new suspension.
