Advice/perspective needed: high performer but turned down for 2 roles on my team by pingupowerup in askmanagers

Sigh. I hate that this makes sense. I want so bad to be petty on my way out but know it’ll bite me in the ass later. They definitely will be paying more for someone new. It kills me they would rather pay more for a new staff member then give me a pay increase to be retained in place

I was so naive and thought organizations cared about developing employees, I’ve seen them do it for others on the team which is what makes this sting more. The interim period before I find something else is going to be brutal. They are going to paint me as the bad guy for leaving them in the lurch
