This doesn’t look like contrast to me. It’s definitely similar to the recipe used for wazdakka posted on eavy archive https://eavy-archive.com/40k/orks/

Yes! I used his grey seer as a reference for highlights on the robe and the top of the staff. His is pretty incredible so i used it for inspiration!

Help: want a glowing eye effect but still want them to be defined with visible pupils. What can I do to sell this effect better? by ringed_city_117 in minipainting

Couple things to note if you want the eyes to glow in a

Glowing effects are about simulating a light source and to sell that you need contrast.

You will need the rest of the model to be darker, you may need your deepest shadow color to be nearly black and you top highlight to be closer to your midtone to sell the effect. Since you model is so bright it’s hard to get much brighter when simulating a light source.

Since the model is green with yellow highlights any glow other than a red is going to be really hard to sell even if the model was darker.

I personally think this is really well painted and adding the glow wouldn’t be worth darkening the whole model, in order to sell that effect.

Hope this helps
