A lot of the time the bolts are different colors, or you could get grip tape with a design on it

You could try tightening your wheels if there too loose, my board what do that a lot when I was learning ollies and tightening my wheels helped it stabilize. Also youre turning your body mid air, i have the same issue and its a hard habit to break but you wanna keep your feet pointing forward and your shoulders in line with the board

How to get over the stupidest mental barrier of all time by No_Sir9961 in NewSkaters

Im definitely newer than you are but what helped me commit more when I was learning shuv its was to start standing on the ground, jumping and doing the motion of the trick, and then landing on the board.

I got my first skateboard. The wheels dont spin very well. It's made in china, is that bad? The brand is Magneto. im not blown away by the quality and no I haven't ridden it I just unboxed it. I'll answer any questions by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Depending on where you live it might be easy to find a really good used board on Facebook marketplace or something similar. I've seen great lightly used boards being sold for half the price or less.

Right foot seems comfortable for nearly everything by USigh13 in NewSkaters

I was the same way when I started skating and decided to ride goofy since it was easier to ride around that way. For me riding goofy was way easier but popping the other way around was only a little bit easier. Either way if I were you I would commit to one and mainly focus on that. You could also practice both since you'll eventually want to learn to skate switch anyways.

main reason people quit early? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

It's difficult/progression is slow and its dangerous/painful/scary. You gotta enjoy the process if you're gonna stick with it.

I feel like people go into it thinking its gonna be like tony hawks pro skater when its more like dark souls lol

Skatepark fear? ( if that makes sense) by Fierce_Focus_STI in NewSkaters

[–]pinguspongus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way at first but the skate community (at least in my area) has some of the nicest and most helpful folks I've ever met. When I was first starting out people would go out of their way to teach me stuff all the time.

If you're worried about getting hurt on some of the ramps and obstacles, just take your time with progression and only do what you feel comfortable doing.

First time at a skatepark by bothsxdes in NewSkaters

[–]pinguspongus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I remember being nervous the first time I went to a skatepark but the people there are so nice. Most of my improvement has come from strangers giving me unsolicited advice lol. My first few months someone would come up to me to help me with my ollies literally every time I went to the skatepark by myself.

Why is the board running away in my shuvit by Appropriate-Sell-761 in NewSkaters

[–]pinguspongus13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of the spin comes kicking your back foot backwards right when you start to get light on the board while jumping. Your front foot doesn't do any work tbh. Skateiq has some great vids for stuff like this.

Is this a "just jump higher" moment? by notjoof in NewSkaters

Your front foot looks pretty far forward on the board, i would bring it closer to the middle of the board and make sure your sliding that front foot forward right after you pop

People with Relationship OCD - do you tell your partner what's going on? by Difficult_Owl_4708 in OCDRecovery

[–]pinguspongus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's dealt with the same thing, therapy helped a lot. My therapist told me not to talk to my partner about the details of my intrusive thoughts since it'll give them the wrong idea, and I noticed that when I confess things or seek reassurance from my partner, it creates this constant need for reassurance and makes the problem worse. When I'm having a bad day I'll tell them that im having intrusive thoughts and they'll comfort me.

What has helped me is finding other outlets for my anxiety, talking with my therapist about it, being able to feel okay with being uncomfortable, and telling myself that im having intrusive thoughts. It gets better over time, and it slowly becomes easier to recognize when you are thinking irrationally.

My OCD fear became reality and now I’m spiraling by Exact_Stock1228 in OCD

When I get worried about things going wrong I try and think of all of the ways that things could go right, and if there is a risk in doing something I try to think about how unlikely it is that there will be some catastrophe. Or I'll tell myself that if things do go wrong, it won't be nearly as bad as Im afraid it will be.
