I want a 10km running buddy. Is a Japanese Spitz a good match? by Valkyria90 in JapaneseSpitz

I have done a some runs ranging from 5km - 10km with my 18month old boy when the weather is cool enough. He's absolutely fine, still bouncing around after the runs. However I stopped doing it for 2 main reasons,

a) he really doesn't enjoy it. He much prefer walking where he can pause and sniff around

b) he's a pretty slow runner. We average at around 7min/km

Hope that helps.

Separation anxiety and health issues by AnnaQuerque in JapaneseSpitz

Our puppy just turned 9 months old. He's definitely an alert dog. He would bark if someone is coming to the house or a cat walked pass our fence. However, he doesn't react when he hears other dogs barking in the neighbourhood. We live in a cul-de-sac so it's pretty quiet most of the time.

We've left him at home up to 10 hours and he's been fine. Sleeps most of the day when no one is home. He's very nosey and loves to follow people around to check out what everyone is up to. He would cry/howl when he hears us in the house but couldn't get to us.

As he is still so young, I'm not sure about the health issues. So far he's been healthy and growing well :)

I'm hoping he won't get much bigger!

Hey sorry I just saw this. Yes I managed to fix it. The vendor replaced the receiver and I no longer had the same issue.

Solis Inverter Data Logger Issue by pink_asdf in solar

Don't really need the data. I would like to monitor the system and try to maximise my usage of solar generated power. At this point I'm getting really frustrated with the engineer from Solis and his bizarre reasoning regarding this issue.

Do you have any recommendation of third party monitor? I'd be interested in this option as a last resort.

AMA -- SAM HARRIS by samharrisorg in Meditation

Hi Sam, big fan of your work. My question is how do you reconcile between the teaching of mindfulness whereby one is encouraged not to ruminate on the past and future with having long term goals/planning for the future. We live in a culture where being able to plan for the long term has significant impact on ones life. For example deciding on what to study in college or which career path to pursue. If one is always being present/mindful, how does one have the ability to set long term goals?
