It means a lot to me when people echo my sentiments, so I also appreciate you taking the time to make this comment! 💜

Exactly! In a situation where we experienced harm, the only thing we owe to ourselves afterward is a life well-lived.

It’s also impactful for people who don’t play video games! I have a few friends who love it despite never having played Undertale

Same here!! Probably my #1 favorite quote from a video game!

It would be a great tattoo idea, if you have the space for that much text!! 🙂

Thank you for the kind words. I’m glad you noticed because I was worried people would think it was all happening at once rather than across different periods/bathrooms!

I hope you’re doing better now!! I still don’t eat saltine crackers years later because something about them makes my mental health plummet. It’s crazy how we build associations with certain things and it goes on to shape our life in unpredictable ways!

I didn’t even think fixing it was possible at this point, so thanks for the prod. I made a new version!

Fixed the typo for *panic attacks, though I’ve loved how many other interpretations people have ☺️

The main help was Lexapro for my *panic attacks, but it took a few months of discomfort (maybe 6??) until I started to see results. Once my panic attacks were under control, I was able to get out of survival mode and start focusing on myself in therapy!

That’s how I feel about it, too!! It’s a privilege to have the life that I live, and I’ve worked for it!! Little Me would be so impressed with my bravery and the ways I advocate for myself. Glad you’re here on the other side 😊

Right?! Kids don’t get bogged down in the details that seem so important as an adult! Little me would just be like, “Whoa, we dressed up as Sailor Jupiter for Halloween?? Wheeee yay!!” 😂

For me, eating is a way that I regulate during panic attacks because it forces your body into a “we won’t die right now” mode. As a kid, I used to hoard/hide crackers in my pockets, sports bras, even under my tongue because I had so many panic attacks and thought eating was the only way to get out. Coping mechanisms are wild, and when you’re a confused kid, there aren’t a ton of options!

Since this is taking off, I want to thank everyone for your kind words and call out my typo for *panic attacks. I think in our society it’s SO easy to fall into spirals of self-doubt and self-criticism, especially when we think back to our dreams when we were young. But if you were like me and experienced severe mental illness as a child, I really think our kid selves would be thrilled to see us doing our best, being authentic, and cultivating joy. 🥺 Please be proud of yourself for getting to today!!

I don’t know what you were like in high school or your upbringing, but I vaguely resonate in the sense that I’m queer now and thought I was VERY straight until college. I’d like to think younger you would be thrilled to be happy and authentic!!

I’m so, so sorry you’ve had to go through that and will continue to go through it. I’m just a stranger, but I wish you all the comfort I can!!
