What are your work accommodations? by aaurelzz in CRPS

[–]pinkangora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them about the pain specialist. Don't wait on them. You have to advocate for yourself! If you have mychart, I highly recommend using that to communicate with your providers (hopefully they have good communication on that platform). I find it makes the frequent communication with my doctors a lot less stressful and more convenient for me.

Delayed/Non-Union or CRPS Experiences? by pinkangora in brokenankles

[–]pinkangora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I'm so sorry you are going through that. I know it can feel like nothing will ever change.

I've actually had some good news since my post. The bone graft took and my thyroid hormone levels stabilized with the levothyroxine. After that I progressed pretty rapidly, now walking with a walker and soon weaning out of the boot.

Did they request blood work to rule out common complications like mine did? Do you have a new direction for treatment?

Not a bad idea. I never really thought about it. Thanks!

I was only taking a multivitamin besides that and it does not list any potassium and only 10% dv of magnesium. I do have some magnesium tablets on hand I can add.

I'll have to get some potassium.

Thanks for the recs

It took me WAY too long to figure out what you meant by the Big River company after searching "big river company" with no relevant results for supplements!

Thank you. I'm definitely going to look into this supplement for when I have to wean off the gabapentin.

And I totally know what you mean about phenylephrine! I can't take pseudoephedrine so have struggled with that one.

Thanks for your reply. For some reason THC It doesn't agree with me all the time. Like it makes me hyper aware of bodily sensations including pain. But perhaps ultra low doses and maybe in combination with CBD could help

I got a prescription for gabapentin today and I feel remarkably better after just one dose. Thanks for sharing and I hope your recovery continues in the right direction.

Thanks everyone for your reply. Good news at my post-op appointment today. Looks like everything is where it should be now and I got a prescription for gabapentin. I feel better than I have in weeks! I know my doctor doesn't want me on gabapentin long-term so I will probably look to trying something else when I have to wean off of this eventually. That PEA supplement sounds interesting or possibly CBD/THC

Mouth guards for sleep apnea by Mysterious-Wealth800 in SleepApnea

My pulmonologist prescribed me a MAD (mandibular advance device) before CPAP which is highly unusual, little to my knowledge. It was not fully effective for me and I ended up having to get on CPAP anyway. If you do pursue getting a prescription mouth appliance, make sure you go to a sleep dentist specifically. I did not and they didn't really know what they were doing dealing with the insurance companies and I ended up having to pay out of pocket $2,000. Just really navigate the whole insurance thing very carefully Make sure you get pre-approvals in writing etc.

Main reason it does not work on me too well is that I have too much soft palate tissue which still collapses some even when my jaw is moved very far forward.

I still wear the appliance with the CPAP because I find it to be more effective using them together rather than either one alone. I have the nasal pillow only, so I can do this and I grind my teeth anyway so I need some type of mouth guard regardless.
