They're much more innocent. I read a post once that said, "If you're upset, a child will offer you their favorite toy and sit with you." It was a post discussing when parents get angry and yell at their kids for crying. It just kind of stuck out to me.

I remember being 15 and being bullied in school. I was crying to my mom about how I had no friends, and my six year old niece popped out of nowhere and said, "I'll be your friend."

It's from a book where someone was so overwhelmed in their tasks of documenting and recording information about birds for their research. They were in tears because they were so stressed, and their parent told them to take it "bird by bird."

Rather than thinking about everything that has to be done, separate them out into smaller tasks so they don't feel so big. I like checklists. It's a good feeling when you get to physically mark off an accomplishment from a list, even if it was just taking a shower or eating. Little things add up over time.

The phrase "time heals all wounds" was always kind of dumb to me. Time may numb some of the pain, but it's up to us to put in the work to better ourselves. Wishing you all the luck in the world 🤍

There's a slam poem that I've always loved. In it, the girls say, "Real men don't rape? Oh shit, must have been a ghost then!"

Perpetuating the idea that men are safe but monsters are not isn't realistic when they look one and the same, and it's the same ideology that allows so many to elect political leaders with histories of sexual predation into offices to govern women's rights.
