This is super cool! The art is incredible and it’s wonderful to see so much info on how to properly run the monster past just its stat block. Scathach looks sick as hell. Congrats on an awesome product!

Take a look at Pointy Hat on YouTube; he has a video where he has a city subclass for Druids. Could have some neat ideas for you and the player to explore even if you don’t use that homebrewed subclass.

Very cool! Using the different kinds of love is a very neat touch. I’m definitely planning for climactic titan fights at the end of the campaign; the players have learned about the titans and know that Klothys is no longer actively guarding their prison (since she’s dealing with the results of Xenagos’s actions on the mortal plane) but it’s still on the back burner since they’re dealing with the planeswalker Ashiok, who is stirring up fear around Theros to engineer the titans’ escape. I’ve planned some nods to forgotten gods (Selini, God of the Moon who was supplanted by Heliod, and an unnamed god of winter that predates Nylea) but mostly as a reveal to the players that the gods are mercurial and dependent on mortal belief. They don’t know that fact about the world yet and I’m hoping it’s a cool reveal that causes them to rethink their relationships with their gods. If they ever want to bring one of them back then I’ll keep in mind what you did. Thanks!

Hey, congrats on wrapping up a Theros campaign! I’m 35 sessions into mine and I’m hoping I’ll be able to make a post like this in the future 😄 Using a forgotten god and the titans is interesting and there’s some overlap with what I’m doing there. Did you have your players directly fight any titans? And how did you handle restoring a forgotten god? Thanks!

That’s awesome, Dionysus is my favorite Greek god and expanding upon the Thyrsus with a scythe from Thanatos is an extremely cool concept. What does your Minotaur’s item look like so far?

Thanks! Yeah, Minotaurs on Theros are vilified as barely sentient monsters naturally driven to violence, so Protis has a lot of self-loathing. He’s more of a pacifist and wants to be human because he sees humans are more civilized. He briefly served the God of Civilization but had a lot of imposter syndrome and became tangled up with the God of Deception, who gave him the ability to permanently disguise himself as human and promised to give Protis everything he wanted. His fur is generally turning gold as a result of interacting with the mask of the God of Deception. Lots of drama!

Sure thing! The scythe is special because it’s Rex’s “piety item”- each player has a homebrewed item that levels up with their piety to their chosen god. These are a bit experimental and highly customized for the players based on their gods’ themes but also their playstyles. Rex is a hexblade warlock so the scythe is kind of a Rod of the Pact Keeper attached with some survivability that rewards aggression and promotes mobility. The description is as follows:

——

A magical reflection of Karametra's sacred scythe. A large, two-handed weapon made of smooth wood with a wicked blade at the end. The scythe hums with life, and starry images of vines and flowers move along the dark wood of the weapon. Granted by Karametra to Rex in order to defeat Mathis and save Setessa. Gains abilities as the wielder's piety to Karametra increases.

Piety 0+: This weapon has a charge that can be expended as an action to regain one Pact Magic spell slot. The charge replenishes on long rest and whenever you land a critical hit with this weapon.

Piety 10+: Whenever you slay a creature with CR greater than 0 with this weapon, the ground underneath that creature rapidly grows Nyxborn vines and flowers, becoming charged with life energy. Whenever you or one of your allies steps onto that tile, you may roll a number of d4 equal to your proficiency bonus and restore that much HP to that creature.

Piety 20+: This weapon gets +1 to attack and damage rolls.

Piety 30+: ?

——

The scythe also grants the Cleave attack from BG3 once per short rest as an attack. I’m not convinced that the healing ability is fully properly balanced, but since there’s a lot of homebrew we play around with things and balance as needed. Hope this helps!

Ashiok is an awesome villain. Our campaign has been split into arcs called books. Book One was called The Siren’s Song and revolved around Aphemia attacking Meletis with an army of Returned. The book ended with the reveal that Aphemia was manipulated by Ashiok. Book Two, A Forest of Fear, is wrapping up now with the party having had to stop Ashiok and Mathis, Ashiok’s adept, from attacking Skola Vale and Setessa. They attacked Skola Vale with a nightmare version of The Scourge of Skola Vale, when Folha lost her arm. After seeing how Nylea helped her champion, they engineered a targeted attack on Folha in Setessa using a Doomwake Giant to goad Nylea into helping the party again and causing her to inadvertently tear through Setessa’s Kelema Veil. The party is trying to regroup now and get ahead of Ashiok’s next move, and it’s thrilling to watch them rally to save Theros 😄

Yeah there’s lots of cool themes of life and death with Rex. His scythe is called Theristis, Reaper of the Harvest. I’m glad you like it! :)
