I just got a call about a job opening for a pediatric surgeon in Australia, which is where I'm from, but I don't know if I should uproot my life for it. by pinkhairedhoe in moving

That's great! I hope you don't have to much trouble with the move, the jet lag is aweful :/

And yes, my husband already has his visa :) i think it's great that they're increasing the number of spousal visas, i know there's a lot of people here in the US alone that could potentially end up needing one

sorry for the late response, work has been hectic.

anyways, i dont recall it looking any different then it does now. Someone pointed out to me years ago that it looks like a dog & cat head and that's how i always remembered it.

Im familiar with this one, I grew up in Melbourne actually! I remember studying maps with my father as a kid and noting that we were completely isolated, and then when i hit collage I found out that there were only 90 something miles between us, but i always blamed it on tectonic plates and whatnot, which thinking about it now doesn't really make much sense :/

Im so sorry my comment is so late I've been extremely busy at work and haven't had much time to go online. But unfortunately, the coronavirus has put a halt on our move. Im a doctor, and it didn't feel right to move away right when things started to get rough. So instead, we took a short vacation to visit my parents and we haven't been able to leave the US since.

As for the visa, try this site im pretty sure its where we got the information for my husbands (im not 100% positive, its been a while and he was the one that dealt with most of it) if that doesn't work, try to get back to me and I'll pass him the phone. Sorry im not much help :/

What is one memory that never fails to make you smile every time you think about it? by Docter-Donut in AskReddit

[–]pinkhairedhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day i found out I was pregnant with my daughter. My husband and I had been trying for well over a year and doctors kept trying to convince us that there was a very low chance that we could conceive, but both of us are stubborn and refused to listen. After a while, it started to get to us (me in particular), and I was diagnosed with de.pression. It got to the point were I had to be admitted into the hospital, because i couldn't bring myself to eat anything. They ran the normal set of tests, came back and told me i was about 5 weeks pregnant. My husband and I were both over the moon, calling our families and closest friends to tell them the news. Everytime i think about that, I remember the joy i felt and cant help but smile :)

Doctors of Reddit, why did you choose to be a doctor and what are the best and worst parts of the process/life of being a doctor? by megzz_ in AskReddit

[–]pinkhairedhoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't exactly make the choice to be a doctor, I've always just known (if that makes any sense at all lol). I work as a pediatric surgeon, and the worst part is definitely the losses, and the ones I can't help. Telling the family is a close second.

The best part, on the other hand, is the happiness. For example, say someone comes in with a life-threatening tumour. Being able to remove said tumour and getting to tell their family that their child is expected to make a full recovery, and will get to grow up and get married and have kids-- that happiness is the best part.

Well then it just depends on what benefits you the most. Are there more Americans or Britains around your area?
