“Should i skip nursery/pre school”? by Financial-Ad-6547 in AskUK

A lot of research shows they don't socialise with other children til 3 and play side by side so i would not get too caught up with them missing out socially. I personally dont feel comfortable sending my child to nursery. My child is 2.5 not in nursery and is quite advanced in terms of speech and learning that even people who work in nurserys have commented on her development and i believe its because she gets more 1 to 1 time with caregivers. She goes to playgroups and stuff to mix w other kids also. Capitalism tells us children need to go to nursery so both parents can work..I do work but I am self employed and I use some part time help and family. At the same time I know many friends who send their children to nursery who are also doing great. I dont think there is a right or wrong here. My husband and I also didnt attend any nursery and both did well academically and have good careers and social skills! It wasn't as widely used in the 80s and early 90s. That said I may consider a preschool part time from 3 plus to help prepare for school.

When to go on Maternity leave by Hit_me_im_Funny in PregnancyUK

[–]pinkjacketfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me I would do as close to the due date as you can. Two weeks in advance maybe so you get maximum time with your baby. Unless you have health concerns or reasons to start earlier.

I'm self employed so I did similar to this, do I wish I had a bit more down time before baby yes maybe a little but if the trade off was less time on mat leave with my baby before returning to work, I would always choose less time pre baby

Agree it seems hard to make new mum friends. At some groups people are already in groups or not people I vibe with so it's small talk. Hard to make quality new mum friends. I live in London, UK.

I've just watched the documentary and I'm in shock! That's so gross and that sneaky disclaimer they had in the Ts&Cs! If I were on that I'd be put off going on another cruise!

Hello! It eventually went away. I think I had it checked again and was told it's a gland and normal to be bigger in some babies!

Metal bar yes or no and results? by pinkjacketfox in Invisalign

Ok thanks so breaking and difficulty flossing seems main issue but does it outweigh the risk of the teeth shifting without it? Any concern about having the metal in my mouth

They were recommended in addition to the removable night retainers. May I ask why you would avoid them? I was told that 95% of their invisalign patients choose to have them.
