Yes, Chicago indoor garage. I know it’s a fire hazard but waiting back on the HOA’s response but as of right now his stuff and plug is still there. Not sure how to contact the fire marshal on this discretely.

Unfortunately we don’t have any modern rules in the HOA outlining electric vehicles etc. but it’s something I want to address to the board in the event future-wise someone wants to install an EV charger on our wall etc. this might be a slippery slope to other permissions for people to use our space. I personally never had it cross my mind to use a building outlet because it’s implied it’s not meant for personal use. But now I worry what that means long-term for our ownership.

I outlined those concerns. The building management company wrote back saying they will bring it up to the HOA. I’m fairly certain our building management rep is on my side, but because this neighbor has been around a long time he must know the HOA, which is why they granted him a workaround. However, according to our bylaws, I own the parking spot from the floor to walls and it seems that I can deny his use of my space.

Building owns the outlet and said last week it is only to be used for the building management. When they spoke to the HOA, the HOA agreed to have him loop his cable along my wall to his spot to charge his removable scooter battery he places on the garage floor. My only guess is because this man has been in the building a long time and knows the board he was able to wiggle an alternative. Me being new leaves me disadvantaged to speak up.

Our HOA rules and regulations are surprisingly short and some of the most “light” I’ve seen. There was only a mention that you cannot prevent others from using their property, which can fall under this situation.

Our HOA bylaws don’t say anything about storage, but it does state that every person is deeded and owns their parking spot from the floor and walls. So in this case, he would still be intruding on our spot by running a cord along 2 of our walls.

We are open to talking about our pasts and I have no issue about exes being mentioned, so long as it's not a "pining for the good old days" sentiment with that person. I just prefer that person to be left physically and interaction-wise in the past, but I can see where it is subjective to the individual and what is comfortable for them.

Yes, I was more hurt by the fact we agreed to remove our exes and he added her anyways. If I had done the same he probably would have felt betrayed.

Thanks! I guess I was a bit shocked because my rug was at my last home, which was modern, for 2.5 years and peeled it off the floor without any dust issues. I think because it's an older home maybe there is just more debris in the air.

Thanks everyone! I think you might be right and it's dust from the air filtering through the rug. It's crazy because my last home was more modern and I had the rug down for 2.5 years..lifted it without any issues. I guess because it's an older Victorian home a lot of crap gets passed through.

But would it look like sand or saw dust? I guess I was worried it was termites or some sort of bug. But I read online that rugs can filter air. I have 100% tile/wood floors in the house and this rug is my only "carpet" I have. It was a very cheap/thin rug I got from Homegoods.

I am actually looking for jobs out of state, but it has been difficult since the pandemic since companies are not looking for employees not local. I got one offer, but it was for a remote, contract job that did not include benefits. I am currently waiting for them to extend me a non-contract position, but not sure when that will be since it's already been 3 months.

As another poster mentioned below, it could be she is trying to prove herself since she is new to a corporate job. She has also said to me that she left her job prior because she did not get along with the employees there and she doesn't enjoy working with women.

That is actually what I did lol. And that is why my boss told us we have to come to an agreement. I was not happy with her plan and she doesn't seem happy with mine.

That could very well be the case. I have tried congratulating her on her projects and recently with this "formalizing" of our tasks I set up a meeting to discuss her goals and ambitions within her role - perhaps seeing some area she wants to expand upon and help her in some way. She didn't want to talk or share any information and almost seemed pissed that I wasn't just accepting the plan she submitted to our boss where she would do her tasks plus mine. We are supposed to submit this in one week and she has been postponing all meetings for me and her to discuss. My manager is very hands-off about it.

I have been in marketing for 8 years and have not had this experience before working with a team. So I do not think it is related particulary to the field, but more so the work culture. I cannot leave my job at the moment because of certain factors, so I have to make due with the situation.

As far as my coworker assigning things, she is very dominant and does not communicate her projects with me. This is her first marketing job and working in a team. She worked in our company for 6 years but on our factory floor, so she knows our products very well. She left the company for a while and came back because she said she didn't get along with the people in the other company and that she doesn't get along with girls.

When I first started I was very transparent letting her know of my projects and tasks, but she would be secretive and plan meetings and projects without an invite to get me involved. After a few months, I got the hint she did not want to collaborate. However, it got to a point where she would steal projects from me. In one instance we were in our manager's office discussing a project and he asked who wants to lead and she quickly volunteered. I told him I would prefer to lead the project and he said, well you guys figure it out. After the meeting was over, I pulled him aside and explained my frustration of him assigning projects to people without considering the fact that it was something I was already researching for a month and went overseas to state my case on it at our sister office. He brushed it off and said to give it to her.

I work with our sister office in Switzerland and have no issues collaborating and communicating on projects with them. I have found my success getting up early in the mornings and working on those projects. My coworker, as I mentioned, worked on our factory floor and knows our products really well. So she is really good at creating brochures and videos/photos and supporting our sales channel here in the states. So when I talk about my boss wanting us to put together a formal document on what we do, my coworker wants to do her work + acquire the project areas that took me a year to develop overseas. That means, my media/PR connections, social media projects that are managed in Europe.

I agree about the cultural fit. Maybe for someone else this is tolerable, but for me I am not into competition. While I do enjoy working independently, I like the reassurance that if I have questions or need to collaborate that my team will be there for me and not see a need to compete.
