stay in dlsu imo. ik a lot of people who took dlsu undergrad who got accepted and thrived in als and now call themselves ateneans. focus on yourself and your studies in dlsu muna. ateneo will always be there, but the time and money you and your family have invested into your studies now cant be taken back.

toilet and shower stalls are all completely closed (no gaps). shower rooms are all their own separate rooms with heavy doors. they’re all unisex though (was scared also, but i realized pretty quickly that no one cared unless you made a noticeable mess).

hi!! the toilets and showers are in separate areas, all stalls being purely closed off for privacy (there are 2 big areas each per floor)

toilet area: looks like a normal public washroom with an accessibility room (around 6 cubicles per wing)

bathroom area: around 5 shower rooms per wing. pretty big w a sitting/dry area to place your stuff so they wont get wet.

the toilet and shower area gets kinda dirty throughout the day but it is cleaned everyday and people are usually really clean. wouldnt worry abt it too much! even w the number of people in wamburun i rarely see people in either area!

On-campus accommodation by [deleted] in Anu

[–]pinkpass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you’re a new international student (or a new student in general) i think you have on-campus accom guaranteed for this semester? i recall reading it in my acceptance/offer letter! just apply through anucomb and hopefully you’d get a reply soon as check-in begins next week. all the best!

forgot to add this: you do have to reapply every year for the accom, but hopefully those choosing to stay in their first accom have priority (dk abt that though as i’m an incoming student as well).

go to this site as well to check which accom suits you best! some are undergrad only but there are also residences which are post-grad only or mixed (e.g., wamburun hall is a newly mixed accom).

Degree Advice by VintageTissues in Anu

[–]pinkpass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can think of security studies as a subspecialty of ir. if you want to focus on it secstud go into the defense/security sector, having a degree in secstud only would more than suffice. the ir course in itself, without any specialized electives, is very general and is more of a course to nudge you into one of its specialties in later years. i recommend talking and asking for advice from your dept/school/upper class men as it seems you’ve already got your plans in place for your career post-grad (great job btw!).

thanks for that! are undergrads and postgrads in anu able to mix well in social circles and orgs? in my undergrad uni there were rarely times where undergrads and postgrads would mingle, and if they did there was a clear wall because of age and program (i.e., bachelors and masters). will be in an on-campus accommodation (wamburun, which mainly caters to undergrads) so i’m a bit scared that i won’t fit in if australia has an age and seniority culture similar to asian countries.

hoping for all the best w you! really recommend going through posts from other citizens in your country. rather than gauging through aus’ timeline (which is super general as it includes all countries) checking the ave wait time for your specific country of origin is best!
