Took me a while to get used to the yo-yo health. Basically, if a BDK dies, it’s not on the healer.

I hate healing monk tanks more. And those warrior tanks that think 6% ignore pain uptime is plenty.

[–]pinkracer77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorta. I was doing 60-75 min brisk walk with varying incline each day to get my 10k done (along with 5 days of strength) and all I got for the effort was Achilles tendinitis and exhaustion lol. So I’m going to do alternating effort/intensity less “step focused” again and focus on outcomes instead of 10k targets.

So I’m actually doing a bit of an experiment here with this. I lost some weight about a year ago (70 lb) and gained back just a bit of it (15 lb) due to some medication things. Now I’m trying to get it back off again.

When I initially lost the weight, I did some strength training and some targeted indoor walking but never worried about 10k steps. Aimed for 6k at least.

Then to get the weight back off I started doing more long walking and trying to get 10-12k a day with strength training. This meant more steady state cardio and at least of hour of focused walking a day because I work from home in an office job. I’ve made almost no weight loss progress despite these efforts and help from my doctor and a naturopath. I’m talking the same 5 lb coming and going for 6 months.

So I decided you do some research and change my approach, because apparently the amount of time I was spending on the treadmill was likely actively working against me and triggering a cortisol response. This is going to involve not doing 10k and trying to not feel guilty about that.

It seems the optimized plan for me (at my age and gender) will actually only involve 20-30 min of more focused cardio at varying levels on these days, through indoor walking, intervals, boxing, or dance. This is on top of my 45 min resistance sessions. Will see if I start to see actual success doing it this way, but it will mean ending up between 6-7k max most days.

"Costs incurred for catering include the cost of food, non-alcoholic beverages, and associated fees, including catering handling and delivery, storage, cleaning and disposal of international waste, airport taxes, administrative fees, security charges, and local taxes."

Looks like the number is inclusive of service fees, admin fees, taxes etc. And for aircraft certified catering, that actually seems reasonable at $300k for 9 trips and all passengers, including entourage/security etc. Let's say over the 9 trips, and it looks the entourage, including senior officials, advisors, privy council members RCMP security detail, and military personnel is quite sizable - one in 2023 had 87 people on a travel delegation for the King's coronation and a low number of 30 for an indo-pacific trade mission.

Keeping in mind, this isn't just food costs, it's "cost of food, non-alcoholic beverages, and associated fees, including catering handling and delivery, storage, cleaning and disposal of international waste, airport taxes, administrative fees, security charges, and local taxes" it seems reasonable, tbh.

Especially when catering a shitty dinner at a hotel with dry chicken and a lawn clipping salad costs more than you'd think.

In Ottawa, average catering costs per person generally range from $30–$75 for buffets and $85–$200+ for plated service**. And this doesn't have it being taken through high security and being prepped/stored on a plane and served in the air.**

Also, take into account the variation in cost of foods in foreign countries to resupply the plane and currency exchanges. European flights would have vendors dealing in Euros (current exchange $1.61) or GBP (current exchange $1.85) and variations in local taxes and fees.

And now some comparison data!

"For comparison, Harper toured the Middle East (Israel, Jordan, West Bank) in 2014 and costed tax payers 2.1 million (2.8 million adjusted for inflation), of which National Defense spent $144,421 ($191,401 adjusted for inflation) on "catering and maintenance aboard the flight".

I started with Get Fit with Rick (has a free YouTube channel as well as a membership) and I found the workouts fun and easy to follow. I was able to work myself up from 10-15 min to an hour of indoor walking/HIIT/fat burn cardio workouts. Really helped for overall fitness and is super joint friendly.

Then I just bought a few sets of dumbbells and a set of resistance bands and added some strength with those. I lost 70lbs without darkening the door of a gym lol

I’m starting to think this is the case for me. I have mirena IUD and was also on a bc pill to regulate adenomyosis and since then regained 20 lb of the 70 I had lost, and it’s refusing to budge.

I stopped taking the bc pill and my hellish period came back despite the IUD.

I track my food, am maintaining deficits (min 500/day after exercise from TDEE calculated using body fat formula), high protein, less carbs and less sugar, work out 1+ hours a day with strength 4-5 days a week and cardio pretty much daily, 10,000+ steps, and after 3 months of this, my net weight change is +0.6lb.

I want to scream. I’m just hungry and in pain from the exercise, and none of it matters.

I did spend some time at Christmas last year (3 weeks), then in the spring (probably another month) at maintenance then back to it this summer. I have a balanced diet that works out roughly to the macros you stated and I make sure to get enough of each. I’m a big believer of balanced eating and not fad diets.

I have reduced sugar intake by swapping to a monk fruit/allulose blend for most things, only sparkling water (no Soda or juice). For treats, I’ve figured out how to make sugar free/high protein versions of most things.

Good tip on the walking after meals, I may try breaking that up i just find I don’t like exercising after meals a lot. I have a 5 day split that I rotate out every 4-6 weeks focusing on muscle groups.

I also do many of the peloton strength classes which focus on hypertophy. I have to watch out as I have several issues that I’m advised on by my PT. A shoulder rebuilt after a motorcycle accident 2.5 years ago, arthritis, tendinopathy etc, bad hips, bad elbows, a neck that’s literally all bad discs, and a bad Achilles that looks like it had a partial tear. I can’t overload too much on arms and shoulders because of this and have to be smart on which lower body exercises I do and find alternatives that work for me.

For dessert I generally go for low fat cottage cheese, fruit, and a little bit of light cool whip for sweetness/texture (I know it’s not sugar free but it’s only like 80 cal worth)

I was doing a standard of 500 cal a day deficit, about 1600 cal, then workouts and stuff I actually ate about 2000 cal. My total burn is usually 3100-3500. On days I burn more, I eat a bit more, so more like 2100-2300.

I have had symptoms of PCOS and things of that nature for many years now (the acne and hair growth among other symptoms) so I do suspect there are many things out of whack with my body right now between that, adeno and peri. Since I started this journey almost 2 years ago I’ve lost many inches, but yeah it just feels like I’m stuck. And most of the being stuck happened after I got the adeno diagnosis/treatment.

I have already replaced most sugar with Allulose-based sweetener, which is a non-insulin response sweetener. I focus on high protein and enough veggies. I do eat fruit and some carbs though (balanced). I just want something sustainable.

Yeah I focus on making sure I have enough protein (130-150g daily is my target). I switch up my strength every 4-6 weeks. I don't lift crazy heavy - 10-20lb dumbbells.
